I'm not sure why I'm here. Failure seems to be my only option

I was here before. Deactivated my account. Didn't even try to lose weight. I'm here again, praying for a change. Asking God to change all that is wrong in me so I can get outta bed and find motivation. Begging Him to put in me just a little bit of strength to change my life because I don't know where to begin. My insecurities are overwhelming.

You can do this! Start with very small goals and build your confidence. Read Habakkuk 3:19 xx5

Actually, there are always two options, no matter who you are. Failure OR Success. May I suggest using your account for what it's designed for this time. Get up into your Goals settings, tell MFP your stats and the amount you want to lose per week. Keep it simple, it's easier to lose .5 lb a week than it is to lose 2 lbs a week. Start logging ALL your food. Many people complain that weighing and logging takes too long, but really? How bad do you want this??? It's worth the 7 minutes each day when you start to see RESULTS. Then you need to start moving your body, ALOT. You don't need to become a marathon runner overnite, but just start getting things moving more to contribute to the CO part of weight loss. Because it's not magic, it's science. If you burn more calories than you eat, you WILL lose weight. So get moving, all day if you can!
I love The Big Guy too, but this is the time you need to find the strength from YOURSELF. Reach deep in, you know what you want to happen, and I think you know how to make it happen too...if you spend a few hours looking at the threads in the community here, you'll find SO many people who started exactly where you are, and have found themselves very successful.
Much love to you, and God Bless xo14 -
MsCamysia you have been beautifully created by an awesome God. John 3:16 tells you just how much he is in love with his best creation like you. He's not mad at you, he loves you. He sent Jesus for us all. He wants to bless you, you are NOT a failure, you're just failing to see his blessings, totally different. Try a bit of Andrew Wommack teachings too, see some of the incredible healing stories from depression and sleeping tablet junkies to completely restored lives. Hear about how God really sees YOU in from clues in his word. You are more precious than you think you are. He will never leave you nor forsake you. That means 'never'. Look to the one who knows, Jesus shows the way. You are wonderfully made. Believe it. You can do it MsCamysia!4

You have countless options. One is stop praying and start doing.
You deserve to be fit and healthy. Go out and get it.
Use this app as a tool. Find some exercise you enjoy. Thank your God for helping you on your journey but stop begging for Him/Her to motivate you.
Remember all that free will stuff ... YOU have to choose to do the things you need to.12 -
We all have our moments, but we are all here to support each other. I struggle wth depression among other things, feel free to reach out if you need a friend3

While I know that God can make anything happen, sometimes He answers my prayers differently than I expect. Sometimes he offers an opportunity rather than the result directly. You are here, in a place that gives you the tools to succeed and a community of supportive people. Now you need to take one step forward.
As the joke goes, a person prays and prays to win the lottery. Finally he hears God's voice say, "Help me out. Buy a ticket!"10 -
Who's flagging? Whoever is doing it must be feeling pretty bad about their own lives. Could use you some faith of your own....10

If you have the Bible app, you can search for a reading plan called "12 Days of Healthy Christmas" that might motivate you! You can set a reminder to read it each day. Feel free to add me if you'd like2

You can't measure progress without a baseline. Maybe spend a few weeks logging what you eat to get in that habit. Then worry about setting goals.2

God loves you, you have the strength you just need to use it. One step at a time and you'll get there2

Go to a mental health professional.

It's not what a higher power can do for you, it's what can you do for yourself. In fact if you believe in god then you should think of your body as his sacred creation and feel lucky that you got to be born and exist and you should honor his gift by treating it right.... right?
It's really very simple anyways- just enter your stats, set your calorie goal, and only eat that much per day. Get a digital food scale to weigh your foods. That's it. It's not hard is it?? Eat whatever you want just stop when you hit your calorie limit.
Do you want this or not?9 -
Stay strong and prayed up. You have been given the gift of free will and therefore you are able to take charge of your situation. Give yourself the permission to change and take control of your life. Allah(GOD)h always knows best and would never put more on you than you can handle. If you're here then your free will has already been tapped into.3

What helped me with a breakthrough was just one thing - I needed to live. Much of my life I was obese and probably could have used a therapist - losing weight because I thought I should or because of other's reactions to me didn't work. I had some very bad lab results and my doctor put me on some medications that I knew put me at a high risk of heart failure - I had a young daughter that I was not prepared to leave with relatives that did not share my values. Every food and activity choice from then on became what will give me the best chance to live long enough to make an impression on my grandchildren. If you are making a decision to change your life - do it for something that matters - like yourself.5

You can always choose success. Find your strength. It has to come from within you. I've been through a lot of hard things. I decided to be strong and keep going. I have a spine of steel. You can choose to make things better, a lot of choices are under your control.
That said, since you are struggling so much on the inside, a mental health professional could help you a lot. Therapy helped me a lot. Good luck.3 -

You don't need motivation. You already have it, it's what got you here. You don't need strength. Your strength helped you post in spite of your insecurities.
One thing I've learned over the years is this. If I'm drowning, I had best be paddling for shore while I'm praying. His help comes when I'm out of strength.
Bless you, pick up the app, plug in the numbers, stop thinking and start DOing. You got this.4 -
You have the prayer part covered. Now do the work set before you. You can't do it all at once but you can begin. You're a steward of what you've been given. Feel free to add me.6

I was reading a book before I saw this thread. A few words stood out from the author. 'I realized that God has given us certain abilities and He wants us to cooperate with Him in pursuing goals by using those abilities. The key to Christian activity is this: Pray as if everything depends on God, and work as if everything depends on you.'9

There's nothing wrong with YOU- start slow - start by logging your calories to see where you are - then make that change - start eating clean - eliminate the processed foods , the sugars etc- incorporate some exercise - even if it's only 20 min a day - start there and then build it up - you got this0 -

I'm liking that little phrase a lot.

You can pray to win the lottery, but unless you buy the ticket...5

@MsCamysia - I've had your OP on the mind when browsing...I do hope you come back and get involved and get started. People here have been through everything and anything you could imagine and can offer excellent, and very realistic support.
Let them please.2 -
Hi MsCamysia,
I'm not really spiritual, but this last year or so I've felt I was given a second chance. To witness life from a healthy perspective. Words cannot describe how grateful I am. Anyway, it has been a significant force and I can only imagine a belief in god could equally be a force that guides you.
I wish you success in your adventures, MsCamysia! May you find what you seek

I'm a big believer in God helping those who help themselves. Prayer is great, but you also have to look within yourself for strength and change.
Find a WHY. Why are you doing this. What is your goal? Make it clear and concrete and measurable. How are you going to accomplish that. Be specific. Now write all that down- people are much more apt to achieve goals and be successful if they write down their goals. I know that sounds like self help nonsense but it works.
Know success isn't a straight line and you will make mistakes. That's okay. The only real failure is giving up. Your journey will not look like anyone else's, and that's good. It's YOUR'S. Have a positive mindset and see what you can do. You've got this.6 -
Take it one day at a time. One thing at a time celebrate the little victories. Heb 12:1-2 and Job 5:8-10 keep me going. And good music helps. Find a fight song. For me it's Steady Heart by Steffany Gretzinger Never let love fade away by New Birth and You have my surrender by Lauren Diagle. Hang in there.1

Read Paul's words about running the race. As a fine creation of God's (and God does not make mistakes) you have all the tools at your disposal to honour the temple of your own body.
You'll have to do something different this time though. Marinating in despair is surely counterproductive.1 -
I would encourage you to go and speak to someone. I am not sure, but it sounds like there may be some depression going on. This could be situational, seasonal, hereditary or a combination. I feel that one of the major red flags is how difficult it is to even get out of bed, it is almost painful.... Even if it is not the case, I would encourage you to talk to someone, but one thing is for sure, sometimes you have to dig deep for that motivation, especially if you are always the motivator without being motivated yourself.... Praying for you!2

Just do it!
