HI, my name is Shane.
When I was diagnosed with Diabetes, I signed up on MFP and did well. Then I slipped mentally and let everything go...boredom, self pity, lack of general concern and feeling basically unworthy. I 'blossomed to an unhealthy 260 lbs.
Sugar and overeating were the only things that understood me mentally.
Not sure when the change came about, but, since June of this year I managed to lose some weight. Wasn't on purpose. However, it did something to the brain that kicked me out of my 'doldrums and lack of self worth'. I had dropped to 216. I never paid attention to the fact that my clothes were actually lose. I enjoyed the 'space' they offered.
My waist was a 42. Went shopping for one pair of jeans and found a 36 actually fit snug but bought it anyway. Wore it to work and the comments were ridiculously positive and made me rethink myself. Did some major searching as to my issues and found that the weight I had slipped me into a mild depression. The positivity of coworkers seemed to slowly bring me out.
Been on here again now almost two weeks. Dropped a few more pounds and the 36's are now perfect fits, depending on the cut as I have one that I find myself pulling up all the time. Belts have new holes in them as I had to add them.
Now, mentally, I'm back to my old self, enjoying the comments and using them as inspiration to continue. I REFUSE TO GAIN IT BACK!
I'm not big into exercise, though admittedly, I am talking to someone (trainer) that states they can work a program up for someone like me. Also starting to walk more, realizing I can and SHOULD. Feeling fantastic. Put on an outfit that I had on on my 15th anniversary (that was too snug even then) and found I had to cinch up the vest to keep it looking right. What a great feeling!
So here's to everyone's success, including my own, and to all of us continuing on a journey that I should have never stopped in the past.
Blessings to all!
