Iron & other nutrients - how does MFP measure?

I am sooooo confused! When I look at my diary results, am I looking at miligrams? Some other measure? How are the guidelines set by MFP?
Thanks!
Thanks!

not too accurate. I use it as a guide but all the micronutrient numbers are not always entered.0

Thanks! Do you know how MFP "figured out" how much we need of these to make our goals? I am looking at iron and I am concerned that the MFP goals might be too high.0

MFP reports % DV. The DV for iron is based off women's needs specifically and is 18 mg. Men actually don't "need" that much and the DV kind of has a "fudge" factor based off how little Fe is actually absorbed.
Tolerable daily intake max's are 40 mg, though many doctors will prescribe pregnant women far in excess of this (though most of it will then be in the form of poorly absorbable ferrous sulfate).0 -
Thank you!!! I thought it was high for me.... I am (brace yourself) 56 and a half years old & women in my age range need only a fraction of that amount of iron.... So, thanks to you, I will aim for 50% of the MFP goal.
Thank youuuuuuu!0
