Sore thighs

At work on Tuesday I had to learn how to restrain people but I don't feel like I had a work out, I used my arms legs and knees a little. But ever since then my thighs are sore, it's difficult to use the stairs and even sit on a toilet. Basically there's pain in my thighs whenever I bend my knees. Even driving hurts with constantly moving my leg from pedal to brake. When will it end? I can't stay in bed the next few days.

I actually love that feeling, it makes me laugh when I struggle to park my butt. It's called delayed onset muscle soreness. In my experience if you get it 24 hours after the culprit workout, it'll be done in 2 or 3 days, but if you get it 48 hours after you're in for a week of recovery. You can have a hot bath with some epsom salts and maybe an anti-inflammatory might help but you're in for a bit of stiffness for a few more days by the sounds of it.1

Go for a walk. Using the muscles will actually help ease some of the soreness.2

If you have any more restrain classes be sure to warm up with at least ten minutes cardio beforehand and stretches afterwards. I find ice is best right after and heating pads the next day.
As long as you haven't injured your ligaments somehow I associate that sort of muscle pain with progress.0 -
Agree with walk, walk, walk. Hot showers walk more. Have you tried a foam roller? It ridiculously painful when you're sore, but hurts so good. Best $10 I ever spent.0

As others have said, keep moving and using the muscles as that will help recovery.0

I'm going through that now. It is more of my legs and butt. Best thing we should do drink extra water and extra protein.1

Usually lasts 3-7 days for me. Things that help: walking, stretching, tart cherry juice, epson salt baths, ice packs, hot showers, and stay extra hydrated with water.0

Walking helps relieve leg DOMS for me.0

Yeah, unfortunately moving is the best cure for that type of soreness.0

You're feeling the burn! That means muscle is being built when you're sore like that. You probably worked some new muscles that you aren't used to working and that is EPIC. I adore that feeling. I always feel like I didn't do enough if I'm not wobbling around or aching after a work out. Try walking, that usually helps the pain to subside quicker. Don't just sit around because it will stiffen and tighten up, making it even more painful. Drink lots of water.0
