Birth control pill question for the ladies

Hey ladies!

So recently I had started taking birthcontrol ( seasonale to be precise ). I find that I am Loosing weight with it?
Anyone else have the same thing happen? No complaints here though, I have just always heard that BC makes you gain weight. I have been watching my food intake and exercise as per usual, nothing out of the ordinary! Thought I would ask cause Im curious.

What causes weight gain with BC anyways? hormones thus making u eat more?

Thanks in advance ladies!

BC affects hormones and will affect different people in different ways. The pill never caused me to gain or lose weight. Mirena, however, caused me to gain and made it impossible to lose. (And I wasn't eating more and I was exercising like crazy.)

I always heard the weight gain was from water weight, or retaing more water?

I was on Mircogynon for years and it made me gain weight, although i swapped to Cerasette (progesterone only) and I found it much easier to lose weight after that! Now it doesnt affect me one bit!!

As someone who actually works in the field of OB/GYN while most people see there weight increase when they start a hormonal method some do go the other way which may suggest that the PMS business was going on ie; that nasty water weight bloatyness.

It's completely different from person to person but it is a hormonal medication that can cause changes in eating habits because of the change in hormones.

When on the pill I had not real issues but when I moved onto the needle (depo) I found losing and gaining came in large chunks when I wasn't intending loss or gain, but when I watch my weight and eat properly and have been exercising I can lose, gain or maintain the way I want to. So really it totally depends on the person and how they personally react to their BC.

When I take estrogen only birth control pills, I tend to gain water weight.

When I take progesterone/estrogen combo, I tend to be weight neutral with regard to the BCP. I'm still able to lose or gain depending on what I do with my caloric intake, but I don't gain solely due to the pill.

I started taking a BCP named Zovia.....Now the purpose of me taking them is to become regular (monthly), help with facial hair:cry: , and also my acne.... One thing I have noticed and is that I am on day 4 and my appetite has tremendously decrease:smile::happy: .....

Been on it ever since I have been married, and have gained so much weight in the past 7 years. I don't know that the pill is totally to blame though. My hormones have always been screwed up--so I do not know how much is hormonal and how much of the weight gain is pure laziness, bad habits and being comfortable in my married life. I do know I am losing now, but I am watching my calories, trying to eat better, and working my butt off.
