After you quit drinking soda (regular or diet) and it has been a few months and then try a sip or two again? Yikes! For the second and final time when I quit soda 3 years ago, I tried a few sips of my son's coke and it was horrid tasting. He had a Dr. Pepper the other day and for grins, I had a sip. Again - horrid! I am SO thankful that soda has no appeal to me anymore. Now, I have to watch myself with Peach Tea! Love that stuff and it is so high in sugar! I only drink it on road trips now and then or have it in a restaurant.

I've cut soda out before and then have added it back and haven't experienced this. Tasted the same to me even after not drinking it for a while :)

I have always had finely tuned taste buds I think. Even at an early age, I could accurately guess what spices were in a dish but in the case of soda tasting bad to me after a long hiatus from it, I think it is simply my overall lifestyle change. I cut out HFCS, no artificial sweeteners, no processed foods, etc. I had no problems with cookies, cakes and stuff as long as I baked it myself from organic ingredients. After a while, my tastes started changing to the point I could no longer go back to certain things I consumed before like soda. I used to make "semi-homemade" brownies and cakes with mixes and now? I cannot tolerate them at all. I have to make any baked goods from scratch.

(Sorry, I deviated a bit from topic!)

Good luck without soda. I quit soda for a two-month period during Lent a couple years ago, going from upwards of a full 2-liter per day to nothing. Weight dropped like a rock. Took OTC caffeine pills to deal with the headaches and drowsiness.

Today I allow myself sodas (up to one 12-oz serving per day), typically only actually wanting a can of soda 1-2 times per week. It also tastes better now than it did back when I was having huge amounts of it.

There's a home video of me in the hospital 2 days after giving birth, and i was having a sip of my sisters coke, I was mortified that i was caught on film drinking coke (not even diet) as i was breast feeding. The expression on my face looked like i'd just been busted doing a LINE of coke, not have a sipping of the drink lol Had it been the diet kind, i would have been sure to have been sent straight to parent hell

Ha that's nothing-I packed 20 ounce bottles of Coke in my delivery room bag and was chugging it 5 minutes after babies were born :D Kiddos turned I out fine with no horns or tails lol.

Haha Fair enough, I stopped drinking it when i got pregnant. My sister even stopped drinking her beloved coffee when she was pregnant.

I did cut back to 2 cans a day during my pregnancies, and that was my only caffeine source at the time, but as soon as babies came I definitely added the caffeine back in :)

I just cut all soda and sweetener of any kind out of my diet. I promised I would do it for 1 week. Then 1 more week
Now I don't want it anymore
