Personal trainers shouldn't look like they're ready for a workout.

Can y'all help me make sense of this? It's in the ACE Personal Trainer Manual that I just started reading.

My guess would be so you look professional and less intimidating0

My best guess, I wear grungy tshirts and pants to work out in. Maybe a personal trainer can wear nice athletic wear, but not necessarily what a normal workout outfit would be. Idk, it's not like they expect you to wear a suit.0

I think they should look like a trainer.. should be in sporty attire but simple and plain. The attention should be on the client, and not what the trainer is wearing... or not wearing.
I do think that the trainer should be ready to spot and assist so certainly they need the right attire and shoes to do so.2 -
i think it just means don't come looking like a slob1

The trainer is not there to work out -- the trainer is there to coach / train / advise the client. Think of all the gyms where the employees wear comfortable-looking khakis and golf or polo shirts, not shorts and racerbacks.1

maybe it's stupid advice?
....most advice is.0 -
It's referring to a dress code. Most gyms will usually have attire provided by them for you to wear. I have shirts from every gym I've instructed at as well as jackets from a few too.
As a trainer, your job is to instruct and observe. Not to join in and do. The exception is if your a group fitness instructor (like Zumba) or say Bodypump. And even then your attire should be professional.
