I want to start exercising more - and not just by walking (already my main form of transport) but there's a bit of an obstacle. I have issues with my throat - excess mucous mainly. It can happen anytime but gets especially bad if I do something which causes stress on my airways such as running or most sports and it makes it hard enough to breath I can even end up getting sick.
I could go through the various theories and diagnosises which have come and went for it over time but that probably wouldn't be helpful and the point is it happens and the only sport I've managed to find which doesn't trigger it too much as been fencing (which, the local fencing club being really expensive to join, I cannot do right now). I do parkour sometimes but that too is limited and so I was wondering if anyone happens to have any suggestions for new sports to try which in their experience doesn't put too much or too constant a strain on ones breathing since I really do want to exercise more but this doesn't seem like it'll just go away someday so I'm going to have to work with it for now.

It would probably help if you can list the "most sports" that you've already determined aren't suitable. This would likely bring you the most helpful responses. Otherwise, people are going to suggest a bunch of random activities and you'll say no, I've tried that, it doesn't work.
Have you tried any of these non-running sports:
Water polo
Curling
Golf
Weight lifting
Bowling0 -
Off the top of my head hockey, baseball, rounders, basketball, running, lap swimming, gymnastics, your standard reps of things like squats, dance for exercise, badminton, cycle machines, tennis, rowing.
As far as I can tell the issues consistent hard breathing without pauses which is the main problem - I'm just kind of looking for ideas in hopes of finding new ones possible in my area I could try. I love walking but variety's nice (also thanks for the suggestions)!
And no I'm not dehydrated, I actually try and pay a lot of attention to that because of said throat things and I don't often drink anything dehydrating either or which would otherwise irritate throat.0 -
How about less cardio based exercise and more resistance exercises such as Weight lifting, Pilates, yoga or swimming perhaps.1

a lot of things can be done for short bouts with rests in between. this is especially true for anything that is just you. team / interactive sports are harder because you're not in complete control over the timing or intensity.
weightlifting might work. you can pick both your intensity (how heavy you lift) and your duration (how many repetitions you do in a set). couch to 5k running programs have you walking for most of the workout with very brief intervals of [very slow] running. that's how they start out anyway, and i think they'd give you lots of time to realise when you were getting past your capability, before it endangers you.1 -

I'll try those out, thank you so much!1
