I only have 17 pounds to lose but I see so many stories about it taking people years to lose that much weight. Does it have to take that long? I'm doing insanity and eating clean on top of other excercise too. How long should it take?

Rough guess..... 20 weeks!0

Assuming you were diligent and accurate about tracking your intake and your calories expended during exercise you could probably lose between .5 and 1 lb safely per week on average (it's not linear so don't worry too much if the needle on the scale doesn't move much one week). Think in terms of 6 months as a reasonable time frame.
People are often tempted by the shortcuts and miracle diets that promise fast results.......they rarely succeed in the long run. Most "dieters" end up putting back on the weight they lost.
Slow and steady and adopt a plan that you can sustain for the rest of your life.0 -
It took me about 5 months to lose 15 lbs.0
