I drink a cheap one from walmart just to clean myself out a few times a week.

They are usually a laxative, if you are getting sufficient fibre along with healthy fats, water and exercise...you shouldn't need laxatives (barring any serious health condition and laxative intake overseen by doctor).3

There isn't such thing as a detox. Your liver does it for you.6

Its called natural slimming tea.0

If you look at the ingredients, it is a laxative tea. It just makes you poop. If you are having difficulties with constipation or irregularity, see your doctor.5

That looks like the brand name - badia natural tea contains Cassia Acutifolia (botantical name for senna by the looks) . I just googled it and apparently it is a strong laxative.3 -

Yes senna. Its called natural slimming tea. Its like 2 bucks. It makes u poop in about 8 hours1 -
If you have ongoing constipation you should see a doctor, you shouldn't need laxatives on a regularly basis to go to the toilet. They do not 'clean' you out, they empty the bowel, if you are moving your bowels frequently you won't need laxatives. Some people have bowel movements two or three times daily, others once every other day. Not everybody goes to the toilet every day. If you are only having bowel movements because of laxatives you need to see a doctor.7

Does that seem healthy to you, to drink a tea because:
A. You can't poop without it
Or
B. Because you want to poop extra and lose water weight
Do either of those seem like a good idea?

these products are risky! And a waste of money. If you require a laxative to poop see your dr, if you take a laxative to get rid of over indulgences see your dr ( disordered eating....bulimia) Detox is a compleat myth if you have a liver and kidneys you are detoxing every second of the day for free.
I hope you are doing ok, these products are not a good idea. Fiber, water, lots of fruits and veg, regular exercise that is what your body needs to function at its best.4 -
So much no here. :noway:5

I never thought it wise to mess with your digestive system unnecessarily. In particular, a cheapie from walmart, which only sells quality health foods
It does bother me when they label themselves as 'slimming teas'..how can they get away with such blatant misrepresentation?1 -

Because "Pooping Tea" probably wouldn't sell.5 -

you make a valid point

I use Traditional Medicinals Smooth Move tea on occasion when "things" aren't moving right. Sounds like it has the same ingredients as your Walmart "Slimming" tea. It doesn't detox, it empties your digestive system in a not very subtle way. You might lose maybe a pound of poop, it's certainly not going to make you slimmer. And it just comes back again. Eat a good balanced diet and things should just move along without help, no fake detox necessary. You need to keep in mind that if you are using this slimming tea on a regular basis like you say you may be robbing your body of the nutrients it's trying to extract from your food because it's moving through your digestive system too quickly.2

A lot of sound advice has been given to you OP, here & on your various other threads. Go back, review & take the advice. It appears as though you are seeking a quick fix, which you won't find support for on mfp. Weigh your food, log your food & be patient.9

What are you "detoxing" from?
What chemicals or "toxins", exactly?
How does this tea remove them, when your body's natural defenses haven't? (Why aren't the rest of us sick or dead?)
If all you want is to poop more: drink plenty of water, eat insoluble fiber, exercise.
There's no reason to clear out your intestines "a few times a week". In fact, the only time it's necessary is when you're going in for a colonoscopy or bowel surgery... and then it's going to be quick & brutal, lots of miralax in lots of water in a short time.2 -
Abusing laxatives (which is what you are doing if you are using them "a few times a week") is a surefire way to really screw up your digestive system. If you are having that much problem pooping you need to see your doctor and tell them how often you are using laxative tea and make sure there is nothing wrong.3

In that case, one cup of coffee. I typically poop one hour later. Cheaper and more effective.0 -
Using laxatives a few times a week is a sure way of making your body dependent on them. If you use them enough you won't be able to go without it and it takes a long long time to fix that.3
-
Detox tea to clean you out - so basically laxative abuse.
If you need it a couple times a week, you run a significant risk of becoming reliant on it. If you have trouble pooping, you need to look to your diet first and if you can't fix it through that, seek medical assistance.
There is nothing detoxing or cleansing about taking something to irritate your gut and cause diarrhea.

Op I think you should drink the tea until you are fed up
Then use the site as designed and you will lose weight
Or
Stop getting distracted and roll up your sleeves and start using mfp properly today
Good luck2 -
Serious question as confused
Why is it that people find the bestest tool ever and are still looking for something else, honestly I don't understand it
Is it because pepole believe if it's free it's too good to be true, but if you pay for it magic happens2 -

Because they want instant results without having to put in the effort. If something existed, would there be an obesity problem in the world?4 -
Poop Tea. Excessive pooping isn't actual weight loss and laxative abuse can lead to having serious issues down the road.1

I can confirm that. Took me a good few years and a good doctor/registered dietician team to fix it. I'm now lucky to be able to go every 1-2 days...
If you're having trouble with constipation and the following don't help:
- upping fiber/fat
- drinking lots and lots of fluids (preferably water)
- drinking coffee
- taking a magnesium supplement in the evening before bed
See a doctor.0
