So eating at night past midnight do you guys put it in your Fitness Pal as the day or the next day? Would like to know everybody's opinions on the topic. Thanks for sharing

If its a once off and a snack, I would put it in yesterday....but if due to ongoing shift work and it was intended to be a proper meal, I would look at the hours of work, reconfigure meal times and decide whether it was intended to be a breakfast or dinner (evening meal) and work from that.

I would put it as a next day snack or meal due to my steps tracker will be counting steps for a new day

I have all 6 meals active on MyFitnessPal and have them named for 4 hour blocks, such as 4 AM to 8 AM. That gives me a record of when I ate and slept.

I look at my calories on a weekly basis so I'm not very concerned about individual days that are a little high or low.

If high/low days are something you don't like to see, you might log your past-midnight eating on the previous day to bring up those calories or the current day if you don't have any wiggle room on the previous day.

My days calories start when my day officially starts which is around 5:00 a.m. However, did I have enough cals in the day before to add this to it? If yes it goes there, if not I put it on today's.

I'm too technical with stuff like this. I would log it for today because midnight technically starts a new day. That's just me though.

My day starts after I wake up and ends when I go to bed. Doesn't matter what the clock says.

    ^ This.

I do this now, but when I was working overnight, I would start and end my day at midnight. This made the switching between day and night shifts interesting, because I would have one major over day and one very under day.

I don't think it really matters...

I would say to just pick one and stick with it if you are following a 24 hour calorie limit. I track my calories weekly so it wouldn't really matter to me.

If it was before I'd gone to sleep I'd usually put it in yesterday since otherwise it can get hard to keep track of especially with an erratic sleep schedule I find. On the other hand say I woke up in the middle of the night and had a snack I'd put it in today instead.

It really is personal preference. I like to log anything after midnight for today. The issue here is when people overeat late at night or early morning say 2am and they say screw it, and log it for yesterday even though they were already at their goal for yesterday. This not wanting to be accountable, because going over calories yesterday isn't as difficult to swallow as adding it to today and having to eat less to accommodate the early meal calories. To each their own, I like to log it on today so I don't lose track and forget it happened.

I log things according to actual days. But I also only very rarely eat that late. I don't think I have eaten that late in 10+ years.
