How far will you travel for a trail?

So I've been walking everyday at a park by my house that is 1.5 miles long. I've been enjoying myself alot so I'm pretty sure I'm going to keep this as my staple exercise. Anyway, there's another trail about 3 minutes from the park that is 1.75 miles that I keep passing on my way to/from the park. I've been contemplating for several days whether I wanted to attempt it. For the past couple of days biting flies have been putting a damper on my walks, so I was thinking maybe there's a small chance there'll be less on the other trail since this trail isn't right off the river or something. So that got me thinking about other trails and parks in my area. I've found several trails that look like they'd be great to do (all ranging from 1.7-2.1 miles). They're all about 20-25 minutes away.

So my question is (just out of curiosity), for those of you who like to run/jog/walk/bike trails, how far are you willing to go to use a trail, and how often do you go? Also, how often do you change up your trails?

there's one trail i love to run on because it's hilly and my street runs are mostly on flat surfaces. the trail is 20 minutes from my house. i should probably add most anywhere is 20 minutes from my house. it's always nice to venture out and try new trails just be sure to have your phone with you and be safe
  • I'm lucky to work at a place that has several trails on site. There is one that goes around a lake that I always go on though because it's very hilly and I burn more calories. I usually hike it for 45 minutes on my lunch break. With a two year old and a 3 month old I never get time at home to exercise! I have problems with biting flies too. What works for me is to wear one of my husband's baseball hats when I hike. The flies seem to buzz around for a little while, but start to leave me alone once they realize that they can't bite my head. Horse/Deer flies tend to try to land on the highest point of your body (usually your head). Sometimes I even spray bug spray on the hat as well.

I hope i can start to hike my trail again tomorrow. It's been in the 90's here with extremely high humidity the last 3 days so I have had to walk inside the building where I work. Miss my trail!
