Why did I randomly gain weight?

Hello. I'm a 5'0" tall female and about 102 pounds. I weigh myself once a week. After following a calorie intake for maintenance for several months, today I woke up two pounds heavier and I am not sure why. I am not near my menstrual cycle but I did start a new workout program. Otherwise I am not sure why I could've gained weight yesterday/last night.

That new workout program almost certainly is causing you to retain a little extra water. It'll typically go away within a week or two.5

To go a little bit deeper, @CookiesandCrunches16, when you start a new exercise program, the exercise creates micro-tears in your muscles. Your body stores water to help in repairing those tears. As you continue the exercise program, your body becomes more efficient at repair and doesn't need to hold onto as much water. So, you'll drop that water weight. Although it takes my body more like two weeks, than one, to figure it out and drop the water weight.5
