Anybody have any favorites you would like to share? I am thinking of making some Asian lettuce wraps and brie cheese baked in a puff pastry. Haven't tried the brie recipe yet, but it looks good.

  • The lettuce wraps sound good. Fresh spring rolls are not hard to do either and aside from the carbs in the rice paper, they are pretty healthy. oh and leave the noodles out. LOL

I love baked Brie but what I've found is that recipes like that tend to be great at first and then later when it is cold it is difficult to spread and looks not very appetizing. I started making baked Brie bites with phyllo dough cups, cubed Brie, and then various toppings (flavored jam/preserves, fancy balsamic vinegar, honey and walnuts, etc). They are great finger foods for parties and taste good even when they've been sitting out for a bit.

This is a good basic recipe but I've changed up the toppings pretty regularly.

I had these at a holiday party and made them at Christmas and they were a huge hit. They do have a pretty big kick to them...

Why are carbs in rice paper unhealthy? Did the OP say she was low carb?

Those brie bites are a great idea. I know what you mean about the brie getting cold and unappealing.

Yeah it resembles something you don't want to eat after about 15 minutes, but it tastes so good! These are much easier and those little phyllo cups are so versatile. You can use them for dessert too if you want, like with a little lemon curd and berries.

Naw, wrong use of words there. Not unhealthy at all....I was only thinking of why try not to overdue with the carbs. Its a trigger for me really. :) All in moderation I get it! LOL

Artichoke dip(ingredients subjective making it calorific or not) with baked tortilla chips, baked bites of chicken and jalapeno slice wrapped in bacon and we always eat lentils too...For good luck in the next year? I think... Does beer count as an app?

I made this @ Christmas and it was really tasty!

(we thought the only way to improve upon it was to bake it in a bunt pan so that there were more edges)
