Any Juicers out there?

Hello Everyone!
I have been thinking about purchasing a juicer and was curious if any experienced juicers had any recommendations for beginner. I have about $100 (USD) to spend but I'm willing to go over if I find a juicer that I really like. However, I would prefer to spend a bit less then that so I can also get a few books on nutrition and/or juicing. I want one that will juice fruits AND veggies, including low moister veggies like yams or parsnips. But I'm worried that if I spend to much, I'll end up regretting it. I'm also worried that I won't use it if it's hard to clean or use. I've been doing some research on Amazon, but I'd like to see what brands experienced juicers are using. Also any tips or ideas are helpful!
Thanks,
Caloct17

I have the Jack LeLane (sp). I think it was 99.00 several years ago. It seems to do the job but I don't use it very often. Not too bad to clean.0

I spent $12 on Ebay in 2013. Still works.0

Whatever juicer you buy, it should probably be metal so you don't get bits of plastic flaking into your food. The Amazon reviews on finding ground plastic in their juice is what turned me off of buying one in the past. I also read that centrifugal (?) juicers generate heat and end up cooking the juice, so some people prefer masticating ones that manually crush the produce? Also, fruit juice isn't actually that great for you, so be careful not to overwhelm your liver! I'd focus on which juicer can deal with vegetables, since green juice is what's actually helpful.0

I have experience with both Masticating and Centrifugal juicers.
If you do mostly leafy greens and wheatgrass then you should get a masticating juicer. Centrifugal juicers do awesome work on everything else.
Centrifugal juicers are cheaper. They shred the food. Masticating juicers squeeze the food. I prefer masticating juicers because they get every drop out of food and they're easier to clean.
I'm skeptical about centrifugal juicers but someone got me one for Christmas and I'm pretty impressed with it. Since you're on a budget this juicer I got is a Juiceman and I think it's only $89 at Walmart or Target. It's really easy to clean which I'm surprised. I got 1/2 cup of juice out of 1 medium apple!! 1/2 cup of juice out of 2-3 carrots! And a little over 1/4 cup of juice out of 2 handfuls of spinach.
Sorry for the long post, but thought I would share my experiences. The masticating juicer I had was an Omega NC800HDR. They're about $279-$379 lol but I loved it.0 -
Both of ours are old-school: a Juiceman Jr. and a Champion. My husband makes juice every morning with the Champion (greens, carrot, celery, cucumber, apple). I used to use the Juiceman and it came with a recipe book. I like to try different recipes.0

Mine didn't come with a recipe book. . I just juice whatever without measuring lol. I juice the same thing pretty much though. I like carrot apple spinach juice0 -
Thank you all for the advice! I've picked out a masticating omega juicer. It's more expensive then I was hoping for but I am getting the feeling that it will be what is right for me. Until I have the funds, I am focusing my diet more towards raw veggies and fruits. Basically I'm a vegetarian until dinner time. It will only take a few weeks before I can purchase my juicer but I'm super excited!0

If you're in the US check Craigslist- around me there are regularly really nice ones at a good discount (people buy, use 1-3x, then never again). I got a Breville like that (cheap and like new) and love it.0

I thought about it for a while, and then ended up going with a vitamix instead.
I drink more smoothies, I guess & decided to opt for green smoothies rather than juicing... I couldn't come to terms with giving up the fiber.0
