Incline Walking Challenge

Hello everyone. I am starting this thread because I personally don't run well and I see there are a lot of running challenges. For me running hurts my knees and hips and lets face it I am not built for running, I just don't have the body for it. I grew up in the Missouri Ozarks hiking up and down hills my whole childhood and as a result today I have huge calves and thighs built for hill climbing. I am sure there are others out there like me.
So for fellow hikers or backpackers out there, I am starting a new challenge. This one instead of being based on miles, is based on elevation. Whether you walk, or run, doesn't matter, its how many feet you were able to climb.
When out on hikes I use my phone to keep track. I use "map my hike" but if anybody has any better suggestions let me know. The phone tends to die pretty fast out on hikes, so I usually have to bring an extra battery thingy to plug my phone into. At the gym, I walk on a treadmill set to an incline.
So here we go, log your workouts, or hikes, lets hike a mountain every month!
