Hey,
I was just wondering whether the length of time doing exercise, or number of calories burnt is most important to aid weight loss? Or are both as equally important?? Thanks

Exercise has minimal effect on weight loss if calories eaten are not controlled. It should be considered as primarily a for its health benefits for fitness and cardio-respiratory function. Your weight loss will benefit far more from you very carefully measuring (weighing all solid including those ground and grated, and using measuring cups and spoons for all liquids) and logging (making sure you not only log everything that goes into your mouth, but also making sure the food entries you use here match up with what you are eating--ie. Don't use homemade, generic, or similar entries). So measure and log carefully meeting your calorie goal for weight loss, and consider exercise for its fitness/health benefits.

Exercise "aids" weight loss on 2 fronts.
Okay, so it burns a few calories. But unless you get your eating habits in line, you are bound to regain the weight you lost. If you want to eat whatever, whenever plan on spending endless hours doing cardio.
Although strength training burns fewer calories than cardio - it can "aid" fat loss. When we lose weight we lose fat and existing lean muscle mass. To encourage a larger % of fat loss.....strength train, keep your deficit moderate, and get your protein.
Most people want to be healthy & fit for a lifetime. For these people exercise is not for weight loss.1
