Welcome aboard!
Weight loss is pretty straightforward-you just need to eat at the correct calorie deficit for your weight goals. No need to make drastic changes to what you eat and no need to cut out a bunch of the foods that you like. You just need to learn how to eat them in the correct calorie amounts, and then as you move along you'll find that some foods are more filling (have a higher satiety level) than others and you can make small, sustainable adjustments.
And exercise isn't actually necessary for weight loss-again the only thing you need to do is be eating at the correct calorie deficit for your weight goals. Many people find they enjoy exercising and it's good for overall health but it's not really a big factor in weight loss.
Don't make this harder than it needs to be-that will lead to frustration and long term adherence failure. Instead focus on hitting your calorie targets and then after you get comfortable with that you can start to play around with things a bit more if you want2 -
Weight loss is directly dependent on calorie deficit. You don't have to eat "healthy" to do either. You just have to eat less than you burn. And that can also be done without exercise.
It makes sense to eat more nutritious whole foods though because they are usually less calorie dense and you can eat more volume. But again all that matters in weight loss is CICO.

Welcome aboard the weight loss train. We're here to support each other. Not sure what was so hard about your first day, but there's no need to punish yourself to lose weight. In most cases you can still eat all the foods you love, but take note of your portion sizes. Also record your meals diligently on the My Fitness Pal chart and you'll get a better idea of now many calories you're actually consuming. Reducing the calories might only need small changes as you review the daily charts to see what contributed to your total.2 -
Agree with the above, if you make it a punishment you will not stick with it for the long run.
And...as soon as you stop logging what you eat you will slip back to old habits. I know, I slipped back and that's
Why I'm here now.
Eat what you like in proper amounts, if you want a snickers eat one, just remember you are going to give up something else
to make up for those waster calories. I have cocoa krispies for breakfast, no big deal ...3/4 cup with milk 160 calories
I'll log it in and eat 2 less radishes. It's not a punishment, enjoy your meals and you will get used to the smaller amounts
