deficit help

Hi there,
Can someone help me understand what exactly my deficit should be? I am very confused on how to set it all up on MyFitnessPal. Thanks!

    Put your correct height and weight in, choose an activity level (this is your day to day lifestyle, NOT how much exercise you do), and then choose a weekly weight loss goal. If you have less than 50 lbs to lose, you should stick to 1 lb per week, if you have less than 20 lbs to lose maybe even one-half lb per week. MFP will give you a calorie goal. Log your food and drink, and try to hit that number. Log your exercise, and eat back at least some of those calories.
