Facing the holiday music . . . and dancing into the new year

This was my first holiday season since reaching my goal weight last February. . .and when all was said and done, I gained 4 lbs between Thanksgiving and New Year. I can live with that!

I enjoyed 7 holiday parties--eating and drinking more or less what I wanted at the festivities, and making reasonable choices on the days in between.

I logged honestly every day-- even the days where I ate (or drank) far beyond my calorie goal-- and I enjoyed my friends and family, the festivities and spirit(s) of the season without obsessing over food or working myself into a big guilt trip.

I nibbled almost daily on AMAZING chocolates courtesy a relative who works for a high-end boutique chocolatier, drank entirely too much on one occasion and ate entirely too much on several others--including the two weeks I spent suffering from a shingles attack where I lived mostly on cheesy-carby comfort foods. And haven't exercised worth a flip since December 15th.

So, I'm up 4 lbs. Big Deal. I know what I need to do to take it off; I'll be back down to my maintenance weight in two weeks, and IT WAS WORTH IT!

2 lbs. for me between Thanksgiving and NYE. That's not much and life goes on as usual!

Gained 11lbs between doctors appointments (August until right before the holidays). Looks like I need to tighten up my logging, but I'll probably be back down to my maintenance range by spring.

Now that is what I call maintenance; being able to indulge within reason, most of the time, knowing the consequences at the outset, and responding accordingly.

Do you maintain in a weight range?
I have a range of 5 lbs that I generally sit in the middle of. I am at the top of it today so looking at 1-2lbs water weight and maybe 1lbs gain that will go in no time with a little calorie shaving.

    Well done. :)

    Cheers, h.

Well done! I was in maintenance over the holidays too. As of this morning I'm back to my starting weight, which is the upper end of my maintenance range. I'd like to drop back down to the lower end before January is over, but I'm not sweating it. Had surgery the beginning of December and haven't been to the gym since :(. I know I need to go, but I hate crowds and I know the place will be packed with resolutionists until mid February, lol. I'll suck it up and go anyway, I suppose :D

Took Christmas off and a few days last weekend, didn't do any parties and avoided work snacks, and lost a pound.

I gained 8 pounds between the 23rd and the 30th. And it isn't coming off. Back to where I was in October. This will be the 3rd time I have lost these 8 pounds. Not Happy :'(
