Does xanax slow down metabolism?

Due to my schedule I have to exercise sometimes a couple hours before bed and then have trouble falling asleep. I have the hardest time relaxing after working out and getting my mind and body to be ready for sleep. I know the risks of xanax, I am on a low dose and only take when needed and am very comfortable talking with my doctor about this as well, it is just late and I'm curious if anyone has any knowledge of this. By taking xanax will that make me lose the benefits of a revved up metabolism after my workout?

I don't know about metabolism and psych meds. I am on 1mg haloperidol and I'm wondering the same thing. I know my med makes me lazy so that means less calories burned from being active.0

I can tell you what psych meds do to me, but that may not apply in your case.
Ask your pharmacist if they can give you some info on this. As a patient and nurse I often find pharmacists far less biased and better educated about the detailed side effects of medications.1 -
Probably not enough to matter much, but I'm no doctor! I take atenolol sometimes for my blood pressure which should theoretically slow down my metabolism some, but it really doesn't matter for weight loss in my experience. Might be a good idea to ask your doctor if you're stressing out about it, that can't be good either the stress.0
