Hello, I'm a Pescatarian( a person who does not eat meat, but does eat fish) and I need help with my diet. My goal is to eat healthy, gain muscle, gain strength and burn fat. My log is pretty much what I eat daily except 1-2 veggie pizza nights a week and a tuna hoagie 1-2 times a month in place of my salmon cake dinner. If you need anymore information let me know. Thank you for taking your time to help me. I really appreciate it.

I just want to know if there is anything I am doing wrong and any advise anyone wants to give. I feel like I might be getting to much of some things and to little of others.

Are you feeling hungry, hangry, lethargic? Losing hair, brittle nails, anything?

Hi, I'm a pescatarian too. I'd suggest changing your macros to a 40% carb, 30% fat & 30% protein split, assuming you're planning on exercising, as carbs will help fuel your sessions.

Your food choices are pretty healthy, but you'd be advised to put some more, and varied, veggies in over the course of the day to ensure you get your micro-nutrients into your system.

Now, do you want to lose weight, or gain muscle? You can't really do both at the same time, at least not in the mid to long term.

I get close to that split. All my macros are mid 30's. I forgot to add I usually eat 1-2 handfuls of baby carrots with breakfast shake and baby tomatoes with dinner. I also take a zinc/ magnesium/calcium supplement. Also I exercise a lot. I work out 3-5 days a week (warm up set 40-50%, 3 sets of 8-12 reps, fall out max rep set 40-50%/ full body, splits & isolation depending on how much time I have and how I feel that week) also I do Monday-MMA/ Wednesday-boxing & Self defense course/ Friday - Muay Thai/ Sunday- Jujitsu, I help an older person daily with there business which I stay on my feet moving lifting heavy stuff and I have my daily chores (carrying groceries/ laundry/ other stuff up 2 flights of stairs and doing other stuff). I want to be healthy, lose weight, have more endurance, but at the same time get stronger if that is possible. I'm thinking of fighting, joining some spartan races and maybe a few other events over the next few years. Thank you for your reply.

Yes, I've looked up a few diets, done some research, and I like the diet I'm on now. I'm just not very confident and I would like affirmation that I've been doing okay with it by myself the last couple years. I know people here are the pro's and I seek there guidance. Thank you very much for your reply. I appreciate the ideas and feed back.

So I don't know but when I have lab work, they will test for D vitamin, potassium, iron and B12 I think. Maybe next time you need labs, you can ask doc to test for those and maybe other stuff you may be deficient or actually have too much. (The doc told me I was low on D, took D vitamins, new lab tests showed now I was overloaded).

I'm pescatarian as well - and returning to MFP after falling off the wagon last year. I admit it - I'm no good being accountable to myself, so if anyone would like to join me in a weight loss journey - feel free to friend me! The more the merrier! I also love to cook so I'm always coming up with yummy vegetarian / vegan / pescatarian stuff to eat for the week.

That's a busy schedule! You mentioned trying to lose weight/fat, are you currently aiming to be in a calorie deficit, and if so, by how much? It's a challenge to try and get stronger & lose weight simultaneously.

Your food choices looks pretty solid though.

I didn't ask just to chat. You are answering your own question:
I like the diet I'm on now.
I'm just not very confident and I would like affirmation that I've been doing okay with it by myself the last couple years.
I was trying to give you that affirmation.

It sounds like you're doing what you enjoy and keeping yourself active, I think you're fine! :) If you feel like you're getting too much or too little of this or that, you can try planning a few different kinds of meals that are "out of the norm" for you. For me, I'm not exactly a vegetable lover, but I try to serve veggies roasted or in stews now and then because I know that I need the micros in them. Otherwise I just eat what I like within my calories and try to get enough protein. Then I let the other macros fall wherever they fall and ignore them. ;)

You've only logged one day on MFP so far. I'd say eat a variety of foods and monitor the charts for a while to see trends. Then it would be easier to see what's good and what needs to change.

As long as you're eating plenty of fruit and veg and getting a decent amount of protein, I wouldn't sweat the details too much, especially if you're happy and healthy and not feeling hungry or deprived. There is no one definition of a healthy diet, and if you eat a good variety of fruit and veg, your body will pick out the micronutrients it needs.

Sorry, it took me so long to respond. I've just started school and a few other things so I've been a little more busy then usual. Thank you everyone for your replies and insight. I will examine my diet/ exercise a little more closely and log in for a while then make another update.
