Heart rate monitor question?

Ok so I bought a hrm watch with a chest strap and when I do my run/walk which is 2 miles and takes about 27 min it says I burned 397 calories. Now my Nike app says I burned about 210. All my friends tell me that 397 seems extremely high for a 2 mile run/walk and that the Nike app sounds correct. I wore the chest strap so I knew it was exactly measuring my heart rate the whole time and my HR was up to the 160-180s. Does anybody know if this is right? I just don't know what to go off and now i'm thinking it was a waste of money to buy this darn thing. I have it programmed for me. I'm not overweight, im 148lbs 5'7 but i'm just getting into running so its a hard work out for me. Please help!!

397 does sound off for your weight. Which HRM did you buy?
With serious hills/mountains, I burn about 500 calories in 5 miles (run/walk). I'm about your size.0 -
It does seem high but its possible.
Looking at this, with your details estimates the work at 317 calories.

Does the NIke app know all the same things about you as the HRM ?. (age/weight/height/Vo2max ?)
Keep at it, don't let the gadgets get in the way of the work, just use them for the information. Its like a scale, you don't measure yourself on 20 different ones, just go off the one device and use that as your baseline, any improvements using the same device are the numbers you want to be taking notice of.0 -
It is a reebok HRM and chest strap. I pretty much walked 1 mile and ran 1 mile. We live on a bunch of hills so its a little harder than your normal run on a flat road. I'm gonna try again and see. I don't think the nike app has that info about me. I don't recall it asking me for it. I'm going to run again tonight and see what it says. I had bought one before this one, just like a cheap one at walmart and I returned It because I thought it was wrong. It didn't have a chest strap but now i'm starting to think it was right. This one I have is so confusing to me. I'm still trying to figure it out, but I know how to get it to work on the run i'm doing. It changes laps and starts over counting if I stop it. I need to read the manual more.0

Your heart rate would have come way down from 160-180 when walking. I consistently remain above 160 when running, but I drop into the 130s when walking fast uphill and dropping even further if the walk is easy. If it's not dropping down when walking, then I would suspect a malfunction with the HRM.0
