One of the exercise sets i'm doing as part of pull strength training is a sled pull. However the gym i sometimes use doesn't have one.
Any one recommend any good alternatives?

I think you can use a heavy weight plate. Do you read fitness magazines? They often have subs like that.0

Well, you could build one:

Or you can buy one. I have the old version of this and it works great & is easy to throw in the car and transport to the field by my home.

Thought about buying this one (and actually still have it on my list of things to buy) but I ended up going cheap and buying one of these instead:

Works w/1" or 2" plates. Column is too short to use more than 2 45# bumper plates but it will fit 4 45# steel plates just fine.
Ended up buying the 4 steel plates just to use w/the sled which cost about 3x's as much as the sled itself. Store them in an old Rubbermaid garbage can in the backyard.
Would have been cheaper to by the Rogue sled because I could have just used the 4 45# bumper plates that I already have instead. Oh well . . .

I don't.
I'm not looking to buy one as i would prefer to carry out this exercise, or an effective alternative, in the gym i go to.
Just wondering which weights machine / free weights routine would give me the same benefits as a sled pull without actually using one?

Try using the cable machine. I do that, squat down then walk away backwards from it, also leaning forwards and walking away facing away from it.0
