Howdy! I'm a beginner at fighting food indulgence

I sense that always eating on the run has few advantages at best. Now trying to reverse pre diabetic A1C result, I am evaluating more than just the menu I choose and how my life will change moving forward.

I quit smoking 1 pack a day - cold turkey many years ago. I pledged to never physically pick up a cigarette or a pack. Never holding it in my hand, I knew it would never make it to my lips and over time, the habit change is how I succeeded. But I can't quit food all together so I've determined that this project will be much, much more difficult.

Open to discussion and truly anxious to hear lessons from the veterans that have learned to look at a prepared meal and calculate the values.

Best,
Sandra

First: There are no bad foods. Measure what you eat and log it.
Second: Bad days happen, log it and move on.
Third: Many food locations have their nutrition information online, worst case scenario use the Scotty rule (add 10%)
Fourth: Measure what you are eating and log it.
Fifth: Set reasonable goals. 50 pounds a month is not reasonable. Reasonable goals may change as you lose weight.
Sixth: The tortoise wins this race, take your time and be patient.
    There is no Seventh.
Eighth: Log everything and weigh foods as much as possible.
