Trying to lose 30 lbs

I am a 29 year old woman who is 156 at 5'6" and I'd like to be down to 125 while increasing lean muscle. I initially gained weight due to a medical issue, but I've been fairly sedentary over the last year and addicted to sugar (I've had two pints of ice cream in the last two days). I am having a lot of trouble being motivated to exercise and I wonder if anyone has any general advice or would like to be motivation partners with me over Snapchat. Thanks!!

Hi --
I'm slightlyolder than you but you & I are roughly the same size (or at least I was when I started). My goal given my age is a bit more modest. I was 158 in July hoping to get to 135.
My sugar addiction is in the form of sugared soda. I was drinking several Pepsi's per day. I went cold turkey, mostly. I had 2 between July & October. I don't know that I could do that with ice cream but I don't want the sweet treat as much in winter. First, until you master portion control, get it out of your house. Eat what's there if you must but don't buy more. It's easier to avoid if it's hard to acquire. If you must eat it, learn portion size -- 1/2 cup I think & only allow yourself that. Make sure it works into your daily calories otherwise.
Think of exercise like work. I have been bad -- no gym since October for me. Wasting money on membership but as I struggle to get back into my routine I put exercise in the category of things I have to do -- like go to work, have appointments etc. Once I get the grove back I miss it when I stop.
Perhaps tell yourself you can only have ice cream on days when you work out.
I can't help you with the SnapChat thing but I'm willing to be friends here if you like.0
