Eating 5x Day Weirdness

I can starve all day and eat a disgusting ball of grease every day... because CICO.
I'm sorry, but your rant just shows that you don't know what you're talking about.
Everyone here is advocating eating healthy foods within your calorie limit, EXACTLY THE SAME AS YOUR PCP IS ADVOCATING. (Not sure where 'ball of grease' came from)
Your PCP, and everyone here, is saying that your Calories In > Calories Out. That's why you're gaining. That's just science.
If you are serious about weight loss, you would be trying to figure out WHY the equation is off balance for you, WHICH IS WHAT EVERYONE HERE WAS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT.
Calories In: Usually undercalculated because: you didn't weigh, count snacks OR COUNT ALL THE STUFF IN YOUR COFFEE.
Calories Out: People almost always overcalculate their calories out. Don't base it on tables in MFP or elsewhere. Did you use an HRM? Its highly unlikely that a person who works all day and exercises for an hour gets more than a couple hundred calories of calorie burn. The better shape you are in, the fewer calories you burn.

In your coffee do you put a lot of sugar, or creamer that ads calories? If you are not hungry then eat only one meal but be mindful of the calories.0

But, to be fair, if that disgusting ball of grease had less calories than what you'd expended in the course of the day, then yeah....you'd still lose weight.
Not to mention that you can still gain or not lose weight even if you only eat "healthy". People on here are just trying to tell you that there's very little benefit to eating 5 small meals a day if that's the only reason you're listening to the dietician. (REGISTERED dietician, right?).
CICO IS the way to lose weight. Not meal timing or eating only "healthy" foods.
And it *would* really help if you opened your diary.
Did anyone ask how long you went eating TDEE minus 500 calories before declaring it wasn't working?0 -

She has a thread in the fitness section that indicates that she ate at that calorie level for a month or more. That's plenty of time to determine that it wasn't working for her. Whether she cuts her calories on her own or under the advice of her dietician, I think she's moving in the right direction.1 -
Eating often does make me hungrier. So I stopped that pretty fast.
I eat meals 2 x a day usually brunch and dinner. I may have a snack or two but that varies. This, in part, helped me get my appetite in better control. I also eat a carb/protien/fat at both meals so that seemed to help as well.1 -

Thanks. I don't venture over to that section often so didn't know.1 -
I'm really enjoying the accusation that those trying to help and explain the science behind how weight loss works for every single living creature on the planet are only interested in being skinny not healthy. And yet many have avatars that directly contradict this accusation. Many have lost a great deal of weight. Many are scientists/well educated in the field of health, fitness and nutrition. I'm don't recall if any of our brilliant personal trainers have chimed in yet but they would also be expressing the same views.
CICO works for everyone. Figuring out what that equation is for you can take time. Calculators are an estimate and starting point.
And, as ever, just because we bag the drum loudly about CICO being the most important factor, does not mean we encourage people to just chow down on lard every day. Quite the opposite.
Intermittent fasting is a thing. I prefer to do it on my non-workout days as i can go some time on just a couple cups of coffee and it allows me a larger, more satisfying meal later in the day. That meal is still healthy with a good proportion of protein, fat and carbs to meet my nutritional requirements.
Final point. Eating fat doesn't make you skinny fat. Eating all your calories in one meal doesn't make you skinny fat. Losing too quickly/being undermuscled is what makes you skinny fat. Strength training whilst eating at a deficit and ensuring adequate protein is consumed will prevent you from being skinny fat.5 -
I sure hope between yourself and the people you're paying, you can figure it out because you've instantly made many enemies on here. Everyone was just trying to help but we were treated poorly simply because we didn't answer the direct question asked and questioned what you're doing. Why not be more forthcoming with information being asked instead of keeping it all to yourself, stating we know nothing and your dietician knows it all? But, whatever. I'll lose weight using science whether you want to believe in it or not.4

I love the people on MFP.
OP, I wish you luck and hope that eating three largers meals and two snacks makes you less hungry.1
