Is there a way to convert a serving size to weight like ounces?

So I just started a couple weeks ago with logging and keeping track of my intake. So far, I'm losing weight which is a great thing. I've been using the app more and have started putting some of the recipes we always eat into the app. I'm not 100% sure how to determine serving size, but I have been winging that. So far most things are pasta based so I'm just using what is on the box. But how would I convert that to ounces? We always have leftovers, and I am trying hard not to go too far overboard. Any suggestions would be great.

When you put your own recipes in the recipe builder, there are a couple of ways to manage serving sizes:
    - select a number of servings. I like this for things like baked chicken drumsticks, for example, where I'm cooking 8 drumsticks, so I'll put 8 servings. Yes, you will get a little bit of inaccuracy due to different weight drumsticks, but I can live with that. This also works well for things like soup where I will serve it out into cups and put them in the fridge so I can grab one when I'm ready to eat it. I just serve it out and keep it pretty even quantities then put 6 or 7 or however many serves it makes.
    - weigh the finished product and enter the number of grams (or oz) as the number of servings. This is usually going to give you a more accurate outcome. For example if you make a pasta dish and the finished dish makes 753g of pasta (excluding the weight of the pot/dish), then enter 753 as the number of servings. If your dinner weighs 287g, then enter 287 servings in your diary. This works well if you are cooking for more than one person and eat different amounts or if you are taking a smaller quantity of leftovers for the lunch the next day.

That is a brilliant idea pebble. Thank you so much for the suggestion. I'll try that out next time we make one of those.

I mostly batch cook, and then divide roughly equally amongst a large number of containers to put in freezer - so when entering recipes, I just divide by the total number of containers.

Outside of batch cooking, you could weigh the pot/pan before and after (assuming you won't get an overflow error for the higher weight of the pan+multiple servings) and set the 'serving size' to 1g (or unit of weight of your scale).

Without a scale, you could set the recipe to be 1 serving (for the entire pan), then estimate the fraction of the pan you serve yourself (this is what I typically do if I take something like a cake to a potluck).

This is great! I usually measure it and come up with some breakout like total weight / servings to come up with my serving weight, but I like your method much better!!
