60 years old, Quit smoking almost 12 wks ago need encouragement

Hoping to get encouragement and motivation , I can't do a lot of exercises because I got injured in car accident, walking feels like my bones driving through my spine and I know my weight doesn't help

Good luck stay strong and focused, log every day with honesty. Please don't get impatient it takes time to make the changes to maintain for a lifetime change. You can do this. Good luck1

I'm (or will be in a few months) 65 and quit 11 years ago. I gained weight, substituting food and letting it become my new 'habit'. Gained 30 pounds. Of course, it resulted in other health problems that happened
S l o w l y. Well, I started (back) on MFP about 6 months ago and began a walking regimen. Down 17 pounds...15 more to my goal. It is not easy, as I developed bad habits over the years, not the least of which was making excuses. But I know it IS up to me! You too. It's up to you! I know about the pain you're feeling in your spine...I have arthritis and sometimes I wish I could remove my lower body for a while...but, it's not as bad now as it was 6 months ago. Talk with your doctor or a PT about exercises you CAN do(water exercises help me). It can also be a substitute for the cigs. Also, so you'll know, stretching counts. Start slowly, be gentle. Double high fives, honey! I quit smoking in 2012 after smoking for 32 years. It's a challenge, focus on the quitting the first year, the second year double down on the weight loss. That's what I did, I joined here in 2013. Keep cinnamon sticks around, they help.0
