I joined MFP quite awhile back and fell off pretty quickly. I met my goals at the time but just didn't really use the site. Well like a lot of people, I chose to let New Years be my fresh start to set new fitness goals and I'm going to try and utilize this site to track my diet, workouts and meet other people that are also working toward their personal fitness goals. I've logged logged all 7 days of the year so far and I've been quite impressed with the stories people have share. Very inspirational stuff more often than not. Anyway, I'm hear to contribute and to learn as well.
I'm a former elite level athlete and have trained at a very high level -- therefore, I'm not a rookie to working out or knowing exactly how much work and determination it take to get in shape. However, as I've gotten older (39 years old) and life has happened, I've found that my fitness is an on and off again kind of thing.
Even in my worst shape, I can run (or jog, haha) 6-8 miles. Cardio has never been an issue for me. However, my goal here is to get my weight back down to 180 where it was just over a year ago. I'm currently 207 (was 210 on Dec 31). But I don't want to accomplish it simply by running all of my fat AND muscle away...I want to maintain as much muscle as possible. In fact, more than I care about being 180 pounds, I just want to be lean, toned, and fit. So I'm hoping to make some friends with some folks here that can relate to what I'm doing, or that simply have helpful information that they would like to share with me. I'm have this thing where I'm getting older and I'm sure my metabolism is slowing down on me -- it's an easy excuse for me falling off every so often -- but deep down, I know I can do better and be better. Anyway, happy to be here!
