I go swimming each morning and just do 30 lengths at 8mtre each length- can I turn this into steps? If so, how would I add it to my step total? Thanks. Marji

It's not steps. I don't see how you could convert strokes into steps. I guess you could count your strokes or use a Garmin that has stroke count capability. I would just count lengths of your total workout and estimated calorie burn. Probably a bit simpler! :)

It can't be steps, because you're not walking. Try using calories burned as a measurement instead, that can be applied more broadly.

@tivocrazy In the Exercise Log Just do a search for swimming - select the one that most closely match's what you are doing and enter your Time. I usually cut the calories burned in half as I find that MFP seems to be overly generous with the Calories burned.

Even if you counted one step per stroke, it wouldn't nearly be the equivalent of walking for the same amount of time. If you really want to get steps, the only thing you can is do manually enter a "walking" exercise during the period that you swam, and enter your average walking speed/steps for that amount of time. For example, if you normally walk 3000 steps in 30 minutes, then make up a walk and enter 3000 steps. you can do this on fitbit, not sure about MFP. I just enjoy my swim time and enter it as swimming in MFP.
