Maybe you aren't ready to do the work required???

No matter what answers you receive if you are not motivated to lose the weight then it probably isn't going to happen.

I could tell you all the reasons why I am motivated to lose the excess weight but they probably wouldn't apply to you. I could explain why along with losing weight I am working on health and fitness but that might not apply to you either.

My point is...ask yourself why you want/need to lose the weight and if those reasons are not good enough to motivate you then you obviously are not ready.

Find your why. Why do you want to lose weight? It could be one big reason, like an upcoming reunion, or maybe it's a lot of small reasons, like going clothes shopping and buying what you want, instead of the only things that come in your size. Think of how happy you'll be, and how proud of yourself, when you reach this goal, how your after photos will look, the clothes you'll wear when you reach your goal weight, all the things you'll be able to participate in that maybe you can't do now, the confidence you'll have, the fact that you won't get winded after a short workout or running up the stairs, and knowing that this is what you set out to do and you did it, you rocked it, and you're awesome. It'll feel amazing.

It might seem hard now, but it's all about mentality. Your brain is used to the way you've been living, and it'll take some time to wrap your head around this new lifestyle, but you can do it. Stick with it, and it'll get easier. I always say that weight loss isn't hard, it's just a bit of a challenge at first. It's going to be uncomfortable at first, there are times you might feel awkward at the gym at first, but that will all pass with time. I know for me, my mindset shifted from "I HAVE to eat a salad, I NEED to work out, I'm so fat and stupid, why can't I lose weight" to "Hey, I'm starting to enjoy this. Salads are actually good. Working out is really fun! I want to keep doing this, I want to lose weight, and I will." It'll just take some time to undo the way you've maybe been thinking about it, so persistence is key, small changes every day and never give up.

Are you struggling with anything in particular?

Set very small goals yo achieve...once you can do even a little it helps with getting motivated. Once youre in a routine it wont be so hard. I joined or startes using this app with a friend, and knowing she is using it and has had success helped get me motivated. Now (after one whopping week) im logging all foods, even if going over my limiy, and am "getting ready" to commit more to regular exercise even though im noy quite there ywt and can make a milliom excuses (good, true or other, still excuses!)) Start small!

It wasn't meant to be negative...it was meant for you to search yourself for motivation.

I told myself many times that I needed to lose weight...needed to work on my health and fitness. It wasn't until I searched inwardly and found that motivation that I was finally able to do something about it. I still from time to time find myself slipping backwards. I have to remind myself why I am doing this.

It didn't matter to me what anyone else said...it only became possible when I found that motivation within myself...when I wanted to finally change my life.

It's rough finding something you consider worthwhile enough to put in the work. I remember back in 2011, I went to a Moms & Muffins with my oldest daughter. I coulldn't walk from the parking lot to the cafeteria. I had to take several breaks, and once inside (it was COLD outside) I had to sit down on the floor (no tables/chairs in the hallway). I was humiliated and had the nerve to tell the employees/teachers it was their fault because they made me walk that far. It was then I decided I had to do something.

It's been a roller coaster ride since - having lost 143 then gaining back 100 and now getting back in the game. This time, yes, I was aggravated that I had gained so much back - but back in 2013, I had about 26 pounds removed from my stomach of extra skin and fat. I had a rough recovery, but survived. LOL. This time, I'm just really wanting to get rid of the extra skin/flab around my thighs. That's what's really driving me crazy - and that I have to increase my endurance/stamina to be able to walk around and do stuff. I've lost about 8 pounds in the last month. Yes, during CHristmas and New Years.

What do you want to be able to do that you can't do know? Do you want to be able to walk around Kings Island, Disney or some other amusement park and ride whatever rides you want to ride? Do you want to be able to keep up with your kids? Do you want to be able to exercise without feeling like it's kicking your butt? Those are all things I want to be able to do. I'm not going to be able to do it throwing a pity party for myself.

So - taking small steps. I started logging diligently every day. Then started looking at what I could change to eat healthier but still be able to allow myself to be human. I'm going to make mistakes - so Let's do things to make it easier to stay on track. I have a dorm fridge and a snack box in my laundry room - 100 calorie snacks like pretzels, light string cheese, apples, yogurt, etc. and lots of water. That way I don't have to go into the kitchen and have a "safe zone" to get a snack and drink. When the commercials come on - try to get up and walk around - go get a bottle of water....put in a load of laundry....switch the laundry....grab some 2 pound weights and move your arms until the show comes back on or even during the show.

FOr what it's worth - and Good luck!!

If you are looking to others to boost your drive, motivation, and determination, you are destined to fail. You have to find it within yourself. Sure you can be inspired by others but ultimately, your success or failure is completely in your hands. People will let you down. People will fail you. You have to want to do this for YOURSELF.

Why am I doing this for the umpteenth time? Because each time I stopped caring about it enough and let other things and people influence and ultimately control my attention, emotions, habits, and eating.

You have to want to do this with everything you've got. If you're that willing to give up and not do anything about it...there is nothing anyone else can do for you that will last in the long run.

I want to lose weight because:

I hate the way I look in pictures
I want to look the way I do in the right portion of my profile picture again. All that hard work and I threw it all away because I let someone else's behavior motivate me to give up and drink too much wine instead of keep my shoulder to the wheel and keep on keeping on.

I want to live a healthy active life. I want to hike, bike, and kayak. Hard to do when you're obese without slowing everyone else down.

I want to wear clothes that I can buy in normal stores, not "Plus Size" stores.

I want to stop being winded every time I climb the stairs.

Those are my motivations. Those are my reasons. I keep my profile pic up to motivate me. I look at fat pictures of myself to motivate me. I try to remember to ask myself, "Is this going to get you to your goal?" every time I want to lay around with my laptop or when I want to eat a huge bowl of ice cream after a day of not even caring how many calories I consumed - that comes from me. I come here for ideas on eating well,, ideas on exercise, ideas on making normal foods fit into my plan - but these people don't dictate my success. Only I can do that.
