    Next video is:

How to Lose Weight Without Losing Your Mind
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAdqLB6bTuQ
  • I saw this video a couple months ago, and though you think I would've made the great commitment to start losing weight and eating much better than I already am, I actually promised myself to not to ever gain so much weight, and to NOT go over 205 lbs. (yeah, I know...:ohwell: ) It's a weight loss story where the woman (Melissa) has bypass surgery, but I think it has the same affect for if your losing weight by eating healthy and exercising since she still has to do both in the end.

My 600 lb Life Story: Melissa
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouVnN3RRJwQ
There's more in the series (plus you can watch it On-Demand) but I think Melissa's story is most inspiring.

Then there's Big Meets Bigger: Mississippi. I don't really recommend this video that much for people wanting to lose weight, but more for people who have trouble with diabetes running in their family or anything else of the sort. I don't know if it's just me, but whenever I hear/watch stories of people who are much bigger than me, and have had success in losing weight it makes me think, "It's not too late for me!" It just makes me happy that I could still make a huge change in my diet.

Have you watched any of Robert Lustig? He gets down to the nitty gritty of sugar and what it does and how bad for you it can be. He has several videos on youtube just type his name in the search and loads will come up.

Yes, I watched many of Robert Lustig video, but he repeats the same concepts :)
In my opinion, Sugar ( and other refined foods ) is the evil only if you exceeds your calorie needs. That's it.
The real problem is: people do not know your calorie needs, food calorie, MBR, TDEE, etc..

I totally agree with you. I also watched an interesting HBO documentary on weightloss. The same doctors who discovered leptin have discovered that when you lose weight your brain will try to bring your weight back to pre weightloss to get those leptin levels back, so even when you have lost weight you need to live on reduced calories to pre weightloss permanently
  • Not necessarily strictly educational, but the UK series Supersize vs Superskinny (all 6 series available on youtube) does tackle across the board weight issues from fad diets to anorexia and bulimia to binge eating to emotional overeating. They take a quite obese person and an underweight person, put them in a house together and have them switch diets for a week so they can see just how awful their current diets are, and then give them a healthy eating plan to take home and show their progress. In the mean time, they explore why their eating habits are as is, and show them the health risks of continuing as they are. Had I not spent a good year watching documentary after documentary on food and obesity, I would've found it quite informative. It's certainly worth a try if you want something that's at times light hearted while still dealing with something serious. It's been a great motivator for me.
