Gym when sick?

Does going to the gym to "sweat it out" work so well that it's worth exposing your fellow gym members to your illness? Throughout this winter, I've encountered several people in the classes I attend come while sick in hopes of sweating it out. It frustrstes me because I go to the gym to be healthy, not to pick up illnesses. I don't understand why they can't sweat it out at home. The equipment in the room doesn't get wiped down and some of the classes share equipment/space during the class.

You don't sweat illness out.0

Doubly annoying because a) you don't sweat illnesses out and b) it's just bloody rude and inconsiderate to go to the gym when you're contagious.4
