Is it possible to lose weight with out MFP

You've just started--it takes awhile to figure everything out and get into it. Just keep going, be consistent, and log as acurately as you can. You'll see results.1

We don't NEED MFP but it is a great tool to use to help educate us in portion size/calories and even make us aware of how exercise means we have more calories to work with.
In life before MFP many might have just written down what they were eating.
I know personally I wouldn't have achieved success or been able to maintain my weight loss so successfully. It gave me the tools and I did the rest.

Yes. I lost 80 pounds and this is my 4th year keep it off without using any calorie counter apps or websites to track my food.
I use a journal to keep track of what I'm eating, my weight, measurements, my daily workouts, any notes for the day and I also pre-plan my meals for the next day.
I just ate less and I did small things like didn't drink calories often and eventually I learned to stop eating when I was close to getting full. However, I am aware of the calories I'm consuming and my macros.
This has worked very well for me and it has made maintaining my weight loss pretty easy. It doesn't take up a lot of time either.
I discovered MFP halfway through my weight loss. I figured what I was doing was working amazingly well for me so if it wasn't broke, don't fix it. I stuck around for the forums, then I made some pretty amazing friends here and I never left.
Edit to add: I still track during maintenance. Planning out my meals ahead of time and seeing what I've eaten helps me to stay on my plan.5 -
I see everyones success with logging their intake and weighing etc it seems like there's no way to lose weight without tracking every single thing that goes in your mouth.
I've been going for 9 days logged 7 of them... No difference in weight and I try my best to log accurately...
What on earth did people do without an app to track calories in!
Of course it's possible. People were dieting and losing weight long before there was internet or MFP.
I lost 30+ lbs without weighing or logging. I tried it for a few weeks but it just seemed like too much of a chore to me. I just went the old tried and true method of 'eat less, move more'.0 -

I didn't know MFP existed back when I was in my active weight loss phase. I hung out on another (IF) forum that had a very basic layout and we all tracked our calories with paper and pen. I still do this most of the time (I've upgraded to sticky notes though lol ). I've used MFP's tracking option on and off over the past couple years but I never stick with it for very long. Since I don't track macros and only care about calorie intake it's just simpler to do the paper/pen method.0 -

Of course it's possible, you just need a plan, patience, and consistency.
The media and weight loss industry are VERY MUCH to blame for repeatedly telling people how they can lose 10lb in a week if they just do XYZ.1
