I'm Hiding Food

I can't believe I'm hiding food.... But I'm telling my spouse I'm packing healthy lunches and throwing them away to buy fast food. I am mortified but I can't quit bingeing and hiding what I eat. I weighed myself for the first time in months and I'm 267 pounds.... Nothing fits, im miserable and sick but can't seem to get started. I've always been all or nothing and this food addiction is literally killing me.

Start with some small goals, you don't need to go cold turkey. Except maybe pack some as a sandwich on lunches. Pick a weight loss deficit of a pound/wk to start with the guided goals on MFP. Go have your fast food, skip the large combo and get smaller portions. Next step skip the sugary drinks and fries if you are like me and they are trigger foods. Learn what your trigger foods are, write them down, do not buy them to stock in the house. If you must have a trigger food then buy a single serving portion at the store. And of course stop hiding food, don't be ashamed, just stop because you are making it much more stressful on yourself than it needs to be, and accurately log your food items. Think about reading about macros, I was on what I called the Hobbit diet for a long time, lots of breads and butter and sweets lol, keep in mind there is nothing wrong with those items except in the quantity and *for me* I've learned that a diet of lots of carbs makes me feel more hungry (that "can't just eat one" factor). Your personal macro mix, if it's even important to your satiety, will be a personal journey of discovery. When I eat more protein and fats in relative proportions while still maintaining caloric deficit then I feel fuller and have a better success. A lot of this journey is mental and requires some introspection I think. Realize you won't starve and don't have to be miserable with a smaller portion. CICO works.1

I highly recommend two books (I hate the titles of both, so don't be put off by them), between them both they cured my long term binge eating disorder.
How to Have Your Cake and Your Skinny Jeans Too: Stop Binge Eating, Overeating and Dieting For Good, Get the Naturally Thin Body You Crave From the Inside Out, by Josie Spinardi
The Thin Woman's Brain: Rewiring the Brain for Permanent Weight Loss, by Dilia Suriel
These worked for me where others on the same topic failed (I think I've read them all!). Gillian Riley's books are also good.3
