Methods to raise HR during steady state (ss) Cardio

For Cardio/aerobic training, what methods other than increasing intensity via speed increase or incline increase do you guys/girls use to raise Heart Rate?
Some neat ones I've used...
Temperature control: (HR goes through the roof in summer months even when holding variables like speed & incline constant). Other ways to achieve this effect is by wearing many layers of clothing. This method can be quite dangerous though...
Weighted vest training: just another way to increase intensity.
Interval training: training post weight lifting

Raising HR via thermal stress does not improve conditioning nor does it increase calorie burn to any appreciable extent. If it did, we could all get ripped sitting in a sauna. HR is only an indicator of aerobic conditioning (and calorie burn) when it increases due to an increase in oxygen uptake. If all you do is raise temperature, heart rate increases, but cardiac output (and thus oxygen uptake) does not.

HR is an indicator of effort. Raising HR as an end in itself is pointless. To get results at LT and around VO2 max I do sessions aimed at delivering those; tempo sessions, cruise intervals, hill training and spring intervals.0 -
Yes, trying to raise HR purposely is pointless. But for a condition I have, there is a balance I would like to achieve between training safely vs. having syncope/blacking out from elevating heart rate excessively. Simply standing upright as opposed to sitting can put myself into a "fat burning" zone (jokingly, I would have no fat if this were true).1
