Loads of hype about green tea when dieting... isit any good as tastes pretty rank!

    Nothing magical about green tea and I agree - tastes awful.

    I actually love the taste of green tea, provided it's brewed properly (it usually isn't). That said, do not fall for the "green tea = weight loss" hype, because it's simply not true.

    It won't do anything for weight loss.

    The study that gets bandied about found that green tea *extract*, in large amounts, had a minuscule effect on metabolism. Of course, everyone looking to make a buck jumped on it as "Green tea is a weight loss miracle!!"

    Green tea is full of antioxidants and is said to have other health benefits but don't bother choking it down to boost weight loss - it just won't.

    If you are really keen to start drinking it, look for the ones mixed with other flavours - I drink green tea with lemon myrtle every morning, just because I like it.
