Is this normal?

I'm a 5' even 26yo female with 50-60 lbs to lose ( I'll level out when I feel comfortable, so idk what my exact goal is quite yet) started at 171lbs and it's only been a week. In that week I've gotten down to 167.4lbs. I was not expecting to have lost that much in that short of a time span. I've been as accurate and honest as I possibly can with my logs, so as far as I know, I'm not under-eating. However, I have not been using a food scale as of yet. I ordered one online and it just came in the mail today. So far I've been using estimation (I've always been good with eyeballing) and tsp/tbsp/cup measurements along with package nutrition info, but I plan on getting used to the scale in the next few weeks. Just wondering if the weight loss I've experienced for the beginning of my journey is normal for those starting out? Also, I wouldn't mind a few friends on here, if anyone would like. So far I've managed extremely well keeping motivated, but I'd like to keep the momentum in case this newfound mental kick-in-the-behind wants to start fizzling out.

It's not uncommon to lose some water weight when you first start. If it continues, you need to eat more. But it will probably even out as you move foreward. Yay for getting a food scale, and good luck!

I'm 5'3 started at 173 after six days I weighed in at 166. It's perfectly normal to lose a lot of weight the first week.
