The app prevented me fro even being able to read the forums... i sought help and got nothing useful. I tried today on my new phone and I stopped typing to let my dog in and this useless app erased everything.
I have a rare disorder that affects collagen so i cannot type it all again. Sorry but here is the short vesion.
I'm female 40 something
Canadian eadt coast-ish
My disabled beagle is my heart and soul
I used to be very thin but got a thyroid tumor
I tried low fat + hardcore exrcise, lost 1lb
I did low carb and almost reached goal
Then multiple surgeries and kidney cancer meant long stretcheslaid up. My disorder makes vigorous exercise all but impossible. I also contracted pneumonia several times so the last few years have been hard and i am now 230-235lbs - it fluctuates between the two, not going higher or lower regardless of what i eat.
I need to get the weight down as it is compounding my disorder and i will be in a wheelchair soon if i don't change this. I am too elastic so the weight is increasing pressure on my joints and spine.
I need to have some people to chat with and keep accountible... exchange ideas etc. I walk for exercise right now and i will be trying out snowshoeing months end. In summer i kayak and do light hiking as i am able.
Hoping to meet some people who are serious about getting healthier and who don't think disabled means incapable.

Yes, the app can be frustrating at times. I tend to use the browser than the phone app myself, and I suspect the browser may have few glitches, though it's not without a few.
I've hit my maintenance goal, and honestly, can't exactly relate to your current weight loss struggles. I'm sorry you had no responses previously, but don't get discouraged. Some of the responses in the other thread to get more engaged by responding to others are good advice, though if typing is a challenge, that might be difficult for you.
Here's my personal tips when trying to lose...YMMV -
1. Set your calorie goal with the app, and eat to your goal. Don't try to restrict yourself too much initially (ie low fat or low carb). Make your eating sustainable. Eat the foods you like, but at quantities within your calorie goals.
2. If you are hungry at the lower calorie goal, then see if you need to shift your eating to foods that keep you satisfied longer. This is different for everyone. I personally need proteins, fats, and starchy carbs to keep me full. Veggie carbs don't satisfy my hunger. I've seen others post that they eat a big bowl of salad to fill them up, so they are filled by veggie carbs. Key is to figure it out for you.
3. After you are successful with meeting your calorie goals, then start looking at your macros to get more well rounded/balanced nutrition.
4. Add in exercise as you can. Walking is excellent, as is snowshoeing. Kayaking in the summer is great too (I personally Stand Up Paddleboard). You don't have to run or lift heavy only to have a good enough burn to drop weight/get fit. All those things you do to keep active are great ways to get cardio and burn some calories. If you enjoy them, then do them! Like keeping your calories in on a program that is sustainable, same with your calories out.
5. Enjoy the journey. You will have setbacks, you will get frustrated, but keep pushing to your goal. Take it one small step at a time. And above all, don't let the forums get you down. Behind each snarky avatar is someone who is struggling and frustrated too, but maybe in a different way.1 -
Hi, I'm quite active if that is of any help and I love to talk and comment and the like2

I'm very active here as well. I'm following a Keto eating plan which is working very well so far. I cross country ski in the winter and love to kayak and hike in the summer as well. Good luck with your journey. I'll send you a friend request and if you want to chat, shoot me a message. I live in very upstate NY just below Montreal, so we are probably having similar weather.2

If you can get to the app, you might be able to use speech to text, assuming your phone is a smart phones
It is funny if you tilt your phone. Good luck!
I had hip surgery 7 months ago. It's very hard making a comeback.2
