Hello,
I'm a 44 soon to be 45yr old lady who's never really worked out and ate junk all the time..I decided to challange myself this year..My DH and I are going to Florida in late May. I weight about 116 and would like to lose the belly fat and look good in a bikini.
I just started on MFP and was wondering why it only gives you a goal of 1250..is that calories per day? I looked at a site that says An average woman needs to eat about 2000 calories per day to maintain, and 1500 calories to lose one pound of weight per week. An average man needs 2500 calories to maintain, and 2000 to lose one pound of weight per week.
Am I missing something here?
Also when entering in food in the diary if a item has multiple things in it do you record everything for example a smoothie?
Thanks

You could lower your goal per week if you want more calories. The goal is based on the info you provided, there is not just one generic goal for all females. Since you are very small you're going to need a lot less calories than someone who is 300 lbs for example.
Yes, you would track everything you consume. The recipe builder can be a helpful tool when you have a lot of items in something and you'll be consuming it more than once (also if there's multiple servings).0 -
You weight 116 and you are how tall?0

Ok. The usda average is 2000 in general, however this is typically way top much for the average person. With your stats the 1250 may be more accurate, but you may consider making sure your goal is 0.5-1 pound loss per week which is reasonable for your goal.1 -
