Advice and Help

Hey my name is Jerry and I am 5'5", 18 years old and weigh 125 lbs. I want to gain muscle, but lose a lot of fat before I put on the muscle. My goal is to lose 15 pounds before I start going to the gym, then I want to put on 20 pounds of pure muscle. Recently I have started a 1200 calorie diet, but I haven't seen any results, I don't eat anything that is unhealthy because I like to stick to natural foods like fruits, vegetables and milk.. I run every day (50 minutes of moderately intense cardio) and do couple of biceps curls here and there. Does anyone have any advice for me to lose the weight faster, I planned to lose it before September.

Lift and eat and you'll lose fat while gaining muscle.

1200 maybe a little too low for you with your cardio. Also look at how much of your calories are carbs

If you want to lose fat.. Work out your maintenance calorific intake .. and go on a deficit anywhere between 0 - 500 cals. :)

Cardio program and a resistance program will also aid you to success.. But a deficit in calories and you will drop weight.

    And remember Patience :)

Losing fat and going to the gym shouldn't be mutually exclusive. Since you are still a beginner you're body will be able to build muscle even if you are eating less than you burn so start going to the gym and lifting weights. You should look into other more informative websites than myfitnesspal forums if you want to build muscle. Try bodybuilding.com
