I am seeing hemp seed included in many many recipes lately. For a while it was flax, then it was chia, now apparently it's hemp. Just wondering if anyone has anything to say about hemp.

I don't have the numbers in front of me but hemp, like chia, is a decent source of fiber. It contains a bit of protein as well. Personally, I prefer chia because I find it to be more versatile.

I think people like hemp seeds due to their higher protein content.

    Grams of Protein per 100g:
    31g - hemp
    18g - flax
    17g - chia

That's why you also see hemp protein powder on shelves. Never seen flax or chia protein powder.

Additionally hemp seeds contain omega 3 and 6, which is why I eat them

i used to put the hearts in my morning smoothie. gave it up because they seem to develop a bitter taste in a very short time. tried the protein powder too, and that was just no. it's like drinking henna.

I put the hearts on cereal. I find it tasty, and it provides a little extra protein and fiber.

They're a good source of protein and fiber, and they are a good source of healthy fats. Plus, they taste really good and add a nice taste to food.
