Antibiotics and Hunger?

I am currently on a round of antibiotics (Clarithromycin ER) and also prednisone. I took my last dose of prednisone yesterday and have a few more days of antibiotics. I have been experiencing extreme hunger, I can eat something substantial and feel severe hunger pangs right away like I haven't eaten all day. I am also taking probiotics because antibiotics always makes me sick. Has anyone else experienced extreme hunger from antibiotics, maybe it is just unhappy belly juices that feel like hunger? I thought it was the prednisone but it is just as bad today when I haven't taken it. This is making it hard to stay within my calories!

Antibiotics always upset my gut and that can sometimes feel like hunger . Or maybe you were eating less when you were unwell and making up for lost time now!

Prednisone can increase your hunger. It should work its way out of your system in the next week.

My guess is the hunger comes from the prednisone. Steroids often make the patient VERY hungry.

Thanks for the replies. The prednisone causing the hunger makes more sense for sure.
