My favorite way is to just bake it. 1/2 TBSP butter at the end with salt and pepper.
DH likes his with about 1TBSP brown sugar, cinnamon, and 1TBSP butter.

I heat up the oven to about 350, halve the squash, spoon out the insides, place the two halves face down onto a baking tray, place in the oven, then I fill up the tray with water.

    Bakes wonderfully without drying out.

I'll usually add butter and honey to it. :)

You can stufff the squash with just about anything once it s baked. From Italian with pasta and fixings to Mexican with beans and salsa you then just sprinkle with a little cheese and put them under the broiler for a few minutes. Yum!

A super easy way to cook an acorn squash (or spaghetti squash) is to rinse it well and then place it whole into a slow cooker. Add a couple tablespoons of water, cover and cook on low ask day. Voila! When you get home, squash is cooked. Just cook your meat and serve!

I've been hesitant to try acorn squash because I'm afraid it's way too sweet. I like sweet potatoes, but only if they're roasted and mixed with some more savory vegetables. Otherwise, they're too much for me. How does the sweetness of acorn squash compare to the sweetness of a sweet potato?

Agreed with others on stuffing it. I have stuffed these with chorizo and veggies, rice and veggies, cheese and rice, etc.

Cut acorn squash in half, remove seeds. Fill with cubes jack cheese and cover with slices of bacon. Bake at 375 for about an hour or until bacon is browning and crispy. Best. Acorn. Squash. Ever.

You can also cook an acorn squash whole in the microwave - just like a potato. Prick the skin a few times with a fork and microwave 4-6 min depending on size and softness desired.
