Hi there I just saw this thread. I too am a SAHM. Its hard with kids in general to eat better. I have hard time throwing out whats left on thier plates at meal time. If its just a few bites i end up eating it instead of waisting the food. I started just skimping alittle on my plate if we have something I know they wont eat all of so if i end up eating their food its ok. Or so I tell myself lol.0

hey everyone, I will talk more later!0

Welcome CudyBug! Just making one change at a time helps and don't look at the full picture if you get too overwhelmed or down on yourself. One mini goal at a time.
Well it still has been very stressful here I have not had the time to sit down and log my food but I am hoping to be able to get back to tracking soon. Thank you Trish for the offer of venting I will get back to you on that one. It might take a while to explain all that has happened and I wouldn't do it all justice if I gave a short version. Even though it has been stressful I have still tried to get in some exercise. I am hoping to get back to every day except Sunday this week. I guess we will see what happens.
How was everyone's 4th of July weekend?!0 -
Welcome CudyBug! I have just recently stopped feeling guilty about throwing those last few bites out, or I put them in a baggie and give it to them when they get hungry again (depending on what it is of course) You'll get there, one step at a time
Katie ~ Sorry about all the stress, I pray things start looking better for you!
Our Fourth was uneventful, it rained quite a bit this weekend. My hubby and I did get to go golfing yesterday though! Our youngest didn't like the fireworks, but our oldest thought they were the coolest things ever
Lost .5 this week, hoping for more next week, one of these days I'll get out of the 140s, right?? I came close once and then gained 5lbs...grrr!0 -
Anyone have any good kid friendly easy recipes. Every once in a while i get tired of making the same stuff and want to start doing something new. Right now our main dishes are speghetti, lasagna, hamburger helper, chicken and tatoes and chili. Im also looking for some nice summer recipes since it just kills me to cook hot stuff in the summer especially here its going to be in the 90s all week with no a/c in the kitchen. My son acts like veggies or fruits are diseased and wont even touch them so anything I can hide veggies in would be great too. My daughter eats her veggies and fruit like candy. Guess it would be insane to think I could get two kids who love the good stuff hehehe.0

Hello everyone! I'm back ... again! Now that VBS is over and we're back from our vacation, I'm going to be working hard on losing weight. We ate horribly on vacation, but I was active enough that I only gained a lb!
The day we left I actually ran 3 tenths of a mile nonstop! Haven't gone running since last Wednesday, but I'm hoping to go this evening. We were up in the mountains of southwestern Virginia and walked part of the Virginia Creeper Trail. I am so proud of my kids! They walked almost 6 miles! There was some complaining, but they did so well!!
Hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend!0 -

I hope no one minds, but I"m going to start posting my daily goals again. I had much more success when I did. It's not much today, but my goal is to drink 60 oz of water today. I've only been getting about 40, so this is an increase. Hope everyone is having a good morning!0

Hello Ladies,
I hope you all had a great holiday weekend and stayed good on the calories. I did OK, I have put my calories up to a 1 lb loss a week so I feel like I am overeating when I eat them all and my workout cals too. I overall just feel like a slacker lately but then I log in all my calories and most days I still come in under...no loss in a little while though. I haven't been on the scale in almost a week so we'll see how it treats me tomorrow.
We are having a heat wave here in New England. The kids and I have enjoyed swimming at the lake next to our house in the evenings and doing lots of summer reading during the day. I love this kind of weather but have a hard time getting motivated to run in it. Swimming has been my exercise of choice for the past few days
Next weekend my friend is having a wedding dress brunch. All of us silly homeschool moms are going to dress up in our wedding dresses and bring our daughters dressed as flower girls and have brunch together lol! This has been a plan for a long time and my goal was to be able to fit in my dress by the brunch...I haven't tried it on in a few months so I'm hoping all goes well when I do!
I hope you are all doing great and enjoying the beauty of summer.0 -
It's been a great day! I made my goal of 60 oz of water!
I also went running today for the first time in a week! I was sure I was going to back-track a bit since the last time I went a week without running I back-tracked. But I ran 3 tenths of a mile again tonight!  I even ran a little further ... 5 or 6 feet, but it was further! I pushed myself hard. But I did it!  :bigsmile:0 -
just marking so i can get back to later.0

Good morning! Since I made my water goal yesterday, I'm going to increase it today. I won't be able to go running this evening since Tony has to work in Greensboro today and tomorrow, so it's an overnight trip for him.
Goals today:
Drink 70 oz of water
Log at least most of my food (hopefully I'll remember to do this)0 -
i think if i could get exercising regularly again, i could eat better too. at least that's what's worked before.
definitely helps with water! good luck amy.
i'm aiming for 40 oz water--and taking the boy to the pool. later girls!0 -
Hi! I'm Kristan, mommy to Patrick, 22months old. I currently live in Germany, and hubby is in Iraq for 4 more months!
My goal this week, well, the rest of this week, is to start my exercise up again. We've been sick this week.0 -
hey gals,
Can I join this group of stay at home mom?
I have been on this journey for quite some time and recently lost my motivation. I feel I am slipping through the cracks.
I am happy married to a wonderful man for 15 years. I am a mother of 3 children ( 14 y/o, 13 y/o, and 4 y/o). I need to lose about 40 - 50 pounds..at this point I am happy to lose 10. I am struggling every single day because my kids are home and well they love to eat lots of snacks..
hope to get to know each and every one of you.
have a great day!0 -
Hi everyone and hello newbies!
I wondered where everyone had gone and there were no new posts when I checked it in my topics, then I realised that the week had changed and there would be a new post! Duh!
Am going really well with P90X and am loving it! Its a bit difficult finding the time though. My Hubby started to do it too but crashed out after the first workout. He said it was too difficult! The only one I don't like is Yoga X. Think I will substitute it for plyometrics a few times. Haven't lost any weight yet tho. Scales are firmly staying put!0 -
Welcome to the newbies!
It has been a day filled with cleaning, cleaning and some more cleaning. Now caught up on the cleaning so now to just maintain it.
Though I haven't gotten back into the habit of logging my food I did get in a bike ride yesterday and hoping for another tonight. I have not been doing as good with the water though so of course I think that I am retaining water (fingers are a bit swollen).
Way to go Amy on the water goal met! Good luck Stacey on the regular exercise and getting back on track with better eating. Way to go Princessleia on the P90X. I have done a few of the videos with the hubby. The abripper x whooped my butt! I liked the cardio x and the yoga x is hard to get used to but it really isn't that bad. I love how relaxed I feel after doing it! I would have to say that is my fav of the ones that I have done. Sorry to hear that the hubby crashed out after the first go!
Hope everyone is having a great week/day!0 -
Hi all!! Just checking in--I haven't been around in about a month cause I needed to refocus some "things" going on in life. I think I am working back towards normal(whatever that is).
Goals(love that Amy--I need them!!)
8 glasses of water tomorrow(BIG glasses)
Get up on time & go bike riding before we go to guitar lesson
For the weekend--paint my daughters' room
Happy Friday!

Welcome newbies! :flowerforyou: This is a great group of ladies who really understand how hard it can be to juggle family and weight loss.
Kim - glad to see you back! I was gone for a couple weeks myself between Vacation Bible School and a vacation.
Katie - I have the same problem with cleaning. I can catch up on the cleaning, but maintaining it is not easy.
Princessleia - Great job on the P90X!
I made my 70 oz of water goal today! I also logged breakfast and snacks. Now to get back into the habit of logging everything.
Good night everyone!0 -
Melissa ~ Oh that sounds like so much fun! My wedding dress is too big on me now though Such a good feeling!
Kristan ~ Welcome! Is your hubby Air Force or Army? We are Air Force, I hope the rest of the deployments goes smoothly and quickly! Where are you at there?
Welcome Positively Me!
I am down 1.5lbs this week!! YAY!! I had a tough workout last night (Zumba and CrossFit) so I think I am going to take it easy today. I've noticed on workout days, I don't log my food (I usually burn 700+ cals on days I workout), but on nonworkout days I do LOL. At least it worked out this week, I probably shouldn't make a habit of it.
Goals today, log my food and drink more water! Oh and clean. I let it slide yesterday now it looks messy, even though this isn't nearly as bad as it used to be. Having the house on the market has totally changed my mentality on what a clean house should be...let's just hope I've gained some good habits from this whole thing!
Speaking of the house, lots of prayers please. Realtor called last night to check in. There is a family that's interested and has been since we put the house on the market, but they are working out their finances and trying to get the wife up in running to work from home before they make an offer. He told our realtor that he hopes they'll be ready to do that in a week or two! I pray that these are the ones for our house, that they make a good offer, and that she can transfer herself easily to working from home. Thanks ladies!0 -
Good morning!
Katie - Prayers & positive thoughts that the house sells soon!
My goals today:
Drink 80 oz of water
Log all meals
I'm off to a decent start on my goals this morning. I've logged my breakfast and had 10 oz of water so far.0 -
Amy~I have let house work slip and needed a jump start on it. I have troubles with depression at times and I have had a hard time pushing myself on housework when it comes to those times. I had some sweet ladies help me out last Friday to give me that jump start. I have been maintaining it great this week. My stress was coming from the cleaning and some other things surrounding that. It all looks great though and I don't anticipate any more problems.
Katie~Good luck with the house. I hope that you guys can sell it soon! I know what you mean when you say that you hope it becomes a habit on the cleaning. I hope that I am able to make mine become a habit too. It is so much nicer to have a clean house than a dirty one. You aren't embarrassed when people come over thinking that they will judge you about the mess etc. I have found it easier for me to maintain it than to clean it when it is a mess it is a lot less time I spend on cleaning.
I got back on track today on logging my food. So my goals for today are log all food and get in 10 glasses of water.
Hope you all are meeting your goals! I am off to start some laundry it is NEVER ending!:laugh:0 -
Well it is good to set goals--some you make & some you don't but it is better than wallowing in "poor me" all day. I DID get up & take the kids to the park for a 30 minute bike ride. Feel the speed!!! I didn't manage to get in 8 glasses of water but I did do 6 so that is good.
We pulled the mattresses out of the girls room tonight & they are sleeping in the living room. Tomorrow we paint--cannot wait to get this project done. Hopefully tomorrow.
To both Katie's--it SO much easier to maintain a clean house than to crisis clean! I am in the process of making a plan for the next year for our "chores" My oldest is moving out in August so we need to redistribute things.
Saturday/Sunday's goals
8 glasses of water
Finish the painting & put the girls room back together.
Help hubby w/ planning VBS activities for the following weekend.
Take it easy!

Hello everyone,
I love this cleaning topic as I am sitting here posting instead of doing the cleaning I should be doing. I am not a maintenance cleaner. I mean I do some maintaining but mostly big bulk cleaning. My reasoning is that cleaning makes me so grumpy it is better to be grumpy for a whole day every now and then than to ruin each and every day with a little cleaning . I'm just making excuses, I know lol. Todays agenda has lots of laundry, dusting and scrubbing floors. I'm glad it's raining because I definitely would have found more "important" things to do if I wasn't stuck inside.
I ran 5.6 miles this morning, that's my longest run ever so far. It took a full hour. Now I need to get back on track with lowering my calorie intake. I am going to switch back to a 2lb loss per week and see what happens. Staying under hasn't been a problem for the most part but now w/ these extra calories for the 1 lb loss per week I feel like I am over eating some days.
We went to an amusement park yesterday for a company trip that dh's boss takes us on every summer. It was so much fun. My phone pedometor said I had walked 7.3 miles through the course of the day. Who knew having fun could burn so many cals!
Prayers going up for the house to sell soon Katie.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!0 -
I have a confession. Your "fearless" leader is really a giant turkey. Have been to gym only once since I got home from NY a few weeks ago. Kinda ashamed to raise my head here. This week I've resolved to get back in the saddle. Main goals: stick to 1200 cals a day & 90 oz of water. DD & I both have icky gambu so no gym till we're better. Maybe a walk is in order around the medical center's walking track. Trying to get my focus and mojo back, and try to find joy in the journey again.
Hubby suggested that I did so well because I was motivated to look good for my relatives & impress them so that they would want to hop on the weight loss party wagon, too. Now that I'm home with lots of distractions, I've lost my direction. Time to find new directive.0 -
Melissa ~ I listen to Pandora while I clean and dance..it makes it go by faster and I bet I burn more calories doing it Congrats on your run yesterday!! That is a GREAT time, especially for your first over 5. Huge accomplishment! Thank you for the prayers!
Trish ~ it's so hard to get back into after a trip! Here's to a new week!!
My brag for the week: Burning over 4000 calories!! Holy smokes! I guess it pays to mow the lawn for the hubby ;-P I had a girl day yesterday (filled with Pizza, Olive Garden, Popcorn, laughter and tears) So I definitely needed to do some extra work to hopefully burn some of that off LOL0 -
