New to this..

Hey everyone! My name is Keshia.
I never knew what this site was about. A friend of mine told me all about it and how she gets good support and I decided to join, even though I was a little skeptical. So here I am. Any tips/advice feel free to blurt them at me. I never really enjoyed exercising. However after having my son 5 1/2 years ago i gained a little weight and literally just walked it off, and noticed I enjoyed walking. I didn't change anything about my diet, however I walked 2 times a day, rain/snow/heat, minimum of 3 miles each time. Once I got to my goal weight, we had gotten pregnant with our daughter. Now i've ballooned up past 200lbs and I've always been around 120-130 so this is a huge jump for me. Knees started hurting, I do have a spinal disease so the weight has played a factor in pain for this. I was also diagnosed with a thyroid issue that we have not gotten regulated yet. I've been stuck at 208lbs and recently lost another brother and lost 10lbs due to stress, I believe. Now i'm stuck at 198lbs and have not moved for a couple weeks. I do watch my portion sizes now and drink a lot more water than previously. I have seen a nutritionist and can't seem to push myself to go there. I do have a treadmill and a Pilates machine with numerous dvd's to go with it. However, had shin splints and was told to stay off treadmill for a while, and with my knee issues that developed I had numerous braces made for me. I was lined up for surgery but decided to try to take fluid out and get cortisone shots. I have not had problems with them for a while now, but that comes and goes. I'm not looking to lose weight fast. I found when i lost fast it came back just as fast. When i took 4 years to lose weight after my son, it stayed off, just looking to find something more to do besides walking as our daughter does not like to sit in the stroller even after paying for a expensive jeep stroller LOL.
Thanks for taking the time to read.

Sorry about the tough times you've been having girl.

Feel free to add me - my suggestion is to pick up walking again and for the next couple of weeks, log all your food to see where you are in terms of your diet before you start cutting calories. Then start making small changes; if you go balls to the walls on changing ALL the foods then it may be too overwhelming and you're more likely to give up.

I had only a few vanity pounds to shave off when I started but I always allowed myself things that I wanted, just made sure they fit into my calorie goals for my day. Now I'm focused on really cleaning up my diet and finding all sorts of new ways to get exercise. It's a process that doesn't happen overnight - that's for sure!

Hey thanks! Really appreciate the feedback. It helps. Looking forward to getting back on track and hoping this thyroid issue doesn't set me back.
My plan is to start walking again. Reduce my MT. Dew intake, I have a huge weakness for it. Also to continue watching my portion sizes and eventually get my treadmill's back upstairs, yes I have 2 and get my Pilates machine out again.
Definitely going to start logging my food/drink intake and start going from there.
