What is TDEE? Like I understand what it is, but I don't understand what I'm supposed to do with it! Do I just eat the amount of calories it calculates? What's the method behind its madness?? I would appreciate an explanation in the simplest terms possible since I really don't understand haha

If you eat less than your tdee, you will lose weight.... That's what you do with it.... Take between 10 & 20% off it!0

It is an estimate of total daily expenditure. So the calories used by your body just to work plus the calories you use for exercise or activity. To lose weight, you eat less than this number daily. To gain weight, you eat more. If you told MFP you want to lose so much per week, it already factors that in for your goal, so you don't need to eat lower than that.0

First, don't feel dumb. Most of us when we first join wander around going, huh? I found Scooby's Workshop a great resource for calculating BMR and TDEE and calories to eat.
http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/
And this post in the Eat More to Lose Weight group I think explains it the best:

Good luck! I've been doing the TDEE - 20% method for about 2.5 months. I enjoy it better than starving!0 -

here ya go....now do your homework & read up0 -
At it's simplest, weight loss is nothing more than a math problem. If calories burned > calories eaten, you lose weight. If calories burned < calories eaten you gain weight. It really is that simple. And TDEE is the "calories burned" part of the equation. And the logging part of MFP is the "calories eaten" portion.0
