Strength training calories

I just started lifting weights at the gym while doing cardio most machines give you a calorie burn number do I know how much to eat back but lifting weights don't so can anyone give me a rough number of calories I'm using I do bench press squats deadlifts pull ups overhead press 5 sets of 5 takes about an hour

    You can log it as cardio. You'll find the equivalent in the database in the exercise tab.

    Just a word of warning though, the calories burned during strength training are on the negligible side of things. I get maybe 100 for 60 minutes according to my fitbit. MFP gives me maybe 150-200...

    It's the long term effects of having/retaining muscles that are important. :smile:

    Ok thanks I will eat a extra 100 calories a day and see how it goes

    If you find yourself getting unduly hungry, you can always eat a little more. Take note how you feel after a week and readjust from there.
