    Sorry everyone the article was pulled from the website. When asked the author stated he did not want Gina to get in "trouble" by coming forward about her story being incorrectly stated in People Magazine. The gist of the article was that Gina was featured in People Magazine's "Half Their Size 2017". She went from 300 to 120lbs. PM reported that she simply ate many small meals each day and cut out refined carbs and sugar. When reality, she ate very few meals per day following an IF protocol paired with a VLCD. Gina came forward on Facebook about the article only using half of her story at most, and falsifying a large part of it at best.

    IF = Intermittent Fasting
    VLCD = very low CARB diet. Better known as LCHF diet (Low Carb High Fat diet)
    Using a LCHF diet with IF is a healthy and effective way to lose weight. See the book, "The Obesity Code" by Jason Fung, a nephrologist in Toronto, Canada. Dr. Fung treats a lot of overweight diabetic patients with this program. Used correctly this program can reverse insulin resistance which is a major factor in obesity, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome. Dr. Fung states that the popular low calorie diet does not work in the long term: comparison studies show that this type of diet actually decreases metabolism, while a LCHF diet used with IF will increase metabolism. The "Calories In - Calories Out" model does not work, it is too simplistic, it treats the human body like a machine which it is not: it does not take into account the body's biochemistry and hormonal changes, such as with insulin.
    Also, I recently heard a lecture by a physician researcher at UCLA who did a small pilot study (only 10 patients) on early onset Alzheimer's patients- part of the protocol used LCHF diet with IF. Nine of the ten patients reversed their symptoms of Alzheimer's. For further information on the connection between eating a high carb diet and dementia see the book "Grain Brain" by Dr. David Perlmutter, a practicing neurologist. Note: 80% of dementia patients also have diabetes. Some experts refer to dementia as type 3 diabetes or "diabetes of the brain".

    .

    VLCD is relating to calories, not carbs. Perhaps she did both low calorie and low carb.

    Media prints what they like, the info might be correct but when it's missing important parts the true meaning/story often gets twisted or lost.

    Her (real?) success story is still visible here:
